This article was originally published in June 2016.

In June 2016, hundreds of people gathered in a mass virtual hex, organized by Iowa-based witch Melanie Elizabeth Hexen and intended to put a spell on Brock Turner, the 20-year-old former Stanford University student who was convicted of raping an unconscious woman (later self-identified as Chanel Miller) behind a dumpster.

“I felt good that there was something that I could do about my feelings of anger and helplessness about this case specifically,” says Paige Vanderbeck, a.k.a. The Fat Feminist Witch, a Windsor, Ont.-based witch and tarot card reader who participated in the hex. ”It also felt good to part of a community who felt the same way I did and felt compassion for the survivor of the assault. It felt good to be surrounded by like-minded people.”

Vanderbeck says she doesn’t typically do a lot of cursing or hexing, but was compelled to participate after reading comments on the Facebook event post for the hex from survivors of sexual assault. “I was really inspired by all of these people, many (but not all) of them women, who were taking this other person’s rapist as an opportunity to cleanse themselves of their own feelings from their own sexual assaults,” Vanderbeck says. “It changed it from being something that could be kind of scary into something that was obviously very healing for a lot of people.”

Since 2016 and the mass hex on Turner, hex casting (and witchcraft in general) seems to have only become more popular, with feminist witches casting hexes on President Donald Trump during his first election and TikTok witches claiming to have cast a hex on the moon in 2020. Intrigued? So are we. Read on to learn how to cast a hex and put together your own healing spell.

What you’ll need:

1. A candle

Black candles are the most common for hexing because they’re typically used to banish negativity or to bounce it back onto somebody else, but you can swap black for white (which represents purity), pink (love and compassion) or green (healing) if you want to direct your energy into a more positive spell.

2. A photo of the person you’re hexing (optional)

For the 2016 mass hex, many participants used a photo of Turner and channelled their energy towards a variety of outcomes (impotence being one of the most popular). But as Vanderbeck explains, a hex can also be used for good, like sending healing vibes to survivors. “It felt way more like standing up for myself, and for other survivors, than it did hexing [Turner]” she says.

3. Black string (also optional)

“The black string and the photo is used for binding, essentially encasing a person in your spell,” explains Vanderbeck, adding that this is more important if your intention is to curse.

How to cast a hex:

1. Write down what you want to say

This can be whatever you want, as long as you make sure to focus your energy on your specific intentions and include the name of the person you’re hexing, if you know it. No, it doesn’t have to rhyme.

2. Pick a spot that’s quiet and free from distractions

As in, somewhere where your roommate won’t barge in. “It’s really more about feeling comfortable and like you can focus,” Vanderbeck says.

3. Carve the name of the person into your candle

Carve the name of the person you’re hexing — or, in the case of a healing group hex, you can be more general (i.e. “survivors of sexual assault”) — into the candle using something pointy. If you’re feeling advanced, you can create your own magical symbol or sigil.

4. Light the candle

“A lot of people think the candle is necessary, but I think that it just gives you something to focus on. The real power behind the spell is your intent and you really sending those vibes out there,” Vanderbeck says.

5. Wrap the string around a rolled-up photo of the person you’re hexing

That said, this isn’t necessary for a successful hex.

6. Recite your spell at least three times

Vanderbeck likens the hex to a candlelight vigil. “During the Brock Tuner event, some people said they were going to focus on healing the culture that lead to his actions or healing him so that he’ll be rehabilitated,” Vanderbeck says. “[A hex] is something you can do that makes you feel like you’re actively participating in healing the situation.”

Every year, from June 21 to July 22, my emotions are a mess. Even when I’m outside enjoying the warm weather or celebrating my birthday, I’m overcome by feelings of loss that I can’t quite explain. On the bright side, it’s a time when crying for no particular reason is completely justified in my book. Rationality, be gone! It’s Cancer season.

This year, the summer solstice happened on June 21, marking the beginning of the season and the Sun’s entry into Cancer. For me, this transition brings my deepest emotions to the surface, usually when it’s least expected.

As a Cancer Sun and rising, I’m all too familiar with the water sign woes. Represented by the crab, Cancers are known for our hard shells and soft interiors. We like to retreat into our safe spaces and often find solace in being alone. Take Selena Gomez, a Cancer Sun who recently revealed she has not been on social media in over four years. That’s what I call protecting your peace.

Cancers are ruled by the Moon, a planet associated with intuition and emotion. We’re often family-oriented caregivers who crave to nurture and be nurtured. At the same time, we can be sensitive (some would say overly so) and moody, and have a tendency to hold grudges. For me, Cancer season stirs up all of these feelings at once.

“Cancer season can be an emotional time because of the moon’s influence,” explains Maryaam (@shawtyherbs on TikTok), a Toronto-based astrologer. The moon affects how we process our emotions, she says, and this period may bring heightened sensitivity and vulnerability.

She adds that if you have planets in Cancer in your astrological birth chart, you may feel the effects of this season more than others. But even if you don’t, Mel Priestley, an Edmonton-based astrologer, says not to stress if you deal with some emotional turbulence.

“Cancer season can be a time of quickly changing emotions, due to [the sign] being ruled by the moon which moves very quickly through all the signs over the course of a month, and therefore through all the different houses of your chart,” says Priestley.

And if you’re looking to harness the planet’s powers, Maryaam says to expect a New Moon in Cancer on June 28 or June 29 (depending on your timezone).

“This New Moon in Cancer can be a wonderful time to manifest something sentimental or something comforting,” she says. But because the moon will be at a 90-degree angle from (or “squaring”) Jupiter, it may also bring tension. “If you want to manifest during this time, think carefully,” she says. “This New Moon has ‘be careful what you wish for because you just might get it’ energy.”

Ultimately, there’s nothing wrong with feeling a bit uncomfortable during this time. “If things feel like they are spinning out of control or just generally feeling very unstable, try to reassure yourself that it’s okay to feel this way and that you don’t need to have all the answers,” says Priestley.

For me, Cancer season has historically been a time to (unwillingly) sit in my moodiness. Lingering feelings of nostalgia and melancholia creep up during warmer months, and instead of honouring these emotions, I become anxious wondering why I’m feeling them.

But this year, I’m adopting a new, gentler self-care mindset. As for that nostalgia? I’m leaning into it. Maryaam suggests treating yourself to your favourite childhood home-cooked meals, taking bubble baths and wearing white and silver to boost your mood.

Establishing a daily routine can help give you a sense of control, adds Priestley. But don’t overload yourself with to-do lists. “Now is the time to take it a bit easier, especially if you’re feeling heightened emotions or instability,” she says.

Most importantly? If you need to cry, cry. “Remember that your feelings and emotions are valid,” says Maryaam. “Don’t beat yourself up if you feel a certain way.”

So, while I don’t have control over the emotions I feel during Cancer season, I can at least change how I process them. In the words of fellow Cancer Sun Lana Del Rey, “I got that summertime sadness.” And I think I’m okay with that.

The new year is here and — based on my astrology predictions for January 2022 — things are about to get interesting. After a year of focusing on inner alignment and manifestation, I decided to ditch the New Year’s Resolutions I would’ve drafted in the past and turn inward. It’s taken 27 years, but I’ve finally realized that motivating myself by writing a list of fixed goals (like “read 30 books,” or “exercise twice per day”) is more “gaslight, gatekeep” than “girlboss.”

Instead of the brute-force method, I’m opting for an intuitive approach to goal-setting this year — and using the planetary retrogrades to my advantage.

In January 2022, the astrology forecast is calling for a Venus retrograde, a Mercury retrograde and a Mars transit. While the internet views astrological transits as the source of all breakups and bad haircuts, FASHION knows that retrogrades aren’t to blame. Rather than causing conflict, these cosmic occurrences simply bring issues we may have ignored (or avoided) to the surface.

Whether you’re super into all things witchy or a bit of a skeptic, you can’t deny the logic in “work smarter NOT harder.” Retrogrades are only disruptive when we suppress our inner voices and work out of alignment with our true self. So, to level up — and level up QUICKLY — prioritize the connection you have with your inner self over external relationships.

Below, my astrology predictions for January 2022, and how you can cope with the changes.

Venus retrograde (Dec. 19, 2021 to Jan. 29, 2022)

Venus will station retrograde from Dec. 19 to Jan. 29 in the sign of Capricorn. As the planetary ruler of flirty Libra and sturdy Taurus, Venus plays a big role in our romantic and financial endeavours. Since the Morning Star goes retrograde in the practical sign of Capricorn, we may be called to view our love lives and finances through a more traditional lens. This can mean saying a firm no to situationships and precarious work. It can also mean saying yes to long-term partnerships and investments.

In pop culture, we mostly hear about the romantic possibilities of a Venus retrograde. We all have an ex we low-key want to see again, even if just for a little drama and validation (‘tis the season?). But instead of practicing Blair Waldorf’s iconic “three words, eight letters” speech, let’s remember that retrogrades are way more about introspection than ultimatums. This TikTok User breaks it down perfectly:

@peytonmichiVenus Retrograde Breakdown #venusretrograde #retrograde #astrology #zodiacsigns #SimsSelves #spirituality #capricorn #astrologypredictions #astrotalk♬ Take Me to Pluto – idonthateyou

Last year I realized that someone can be kind to you and still be wrong for you. After shedding the false selves I’d created to protect myself from disappointment, I brought my expectations up to meet my desires instead of the other way around.

This Venus retrograde, ask yourself what it would really take for you to be happy and secure with your finances and relationships. Don’t soften your answers; instead, ask yourself why voicing your desires makes you uncomfortable.

Mercury retrograde (Jan. 14, 2022 to Feb. 3, 2022)

Mercury goes retrograde in two signs this month: first in innovative Aquarius from Jan. 14 to 25 and then in ambitious Capricorn from Jan. 25 to Feb. 3rd. Mercury rules over the solution-focused signs of Gemini and Virgo, so the areas of our lives where communication really matters will be most affected — yes, that means all forms of communication. The way we relate to others at home, work and online will likely be called into question. This TikTok highlights what to expect:

@healingwithjazVenus/Mercury retrograde 2022 #venus #mercury #MakeABunchHappen #retrograde #astrology #astrologytiktok #venusretrograde #mercuryretrograde #zodiac♬ nhạc nền – AK乂Duty

We all have negative associations with Mercury and its infamous transits. Email mix-ups, shattered iPhones and buyer’s remorse are just a few of the frustrations we can look forward to this month (note: sarcasm). Even if your plan is to just lay low and try to survive this retrograde, let me remind you that both Venus and Mercury are retrograding in unison.

What does that mean? This TikTok explains it pretty well:

@peytonmichiVenus & Mercury Retrograde #DoTheJuJu #astrology #venusretrograde #mercuryretrograde #astrologypredictions #astrotalk #astrology2022 #spirituality♬ Winter / Chill / R & B_No517 – table_1

Last year I noticed a lot of the tension in my friendships was stemming from my inability to express my needs. So, instead of swallowing my discomforts like the “Strong Black Woman” stereotype says I should, I learned to trust the people I love with the softest parts of me, and say what I needed.

This Mercury retrograde, ask yourself whether your fear of conflict comes from the possibility of losing others or betraying yourself. There will always be miscommunications and disagreements, but by remembering that we’re safe with those who love us, we can learn to be less defensive and more open.

Mars transit in Sagittarius (Dec. 13, 2021 to Jan. 24, 2022)

Mars entered adventurous Sagittarius on Dec. 13, and will stay there until Jan. 24. The Red Planet rules impulsive Aries and intense Scorpio, and since it’s associated with our aggression, sexuality and ability to take action, it should come as no surprise that Mars is actually quite comfortable in Sagittarius. But will we be comfortable operating on Sagittarian impulses…especially during a double retrograde?

I love my Sun sign, but it’s no surprise we’re commonly referred to as “Sagiterrorists.” Our energy is known for being fun-loving, chaotic and non-committal (listen to “The Archer” by Taylor Swift, she explains it pretty well). Balancing these Sag desires for excitement and freedom with Capricorn sensibilities is definitely easier said than done.

I’ve realized that allowing yourself to do whatever you want can be a form of self-love, but it can also be a form of self-abandonment. We owe it to ourselves to take actions that make us happy, and we’re allowed to reconsider any actions we’re uncertain about.

Based on my astrology predictions for January 2022, I’ll give you one last piece of advice: Whether you’re deciding on UberEats, buying a new desk chair, or sending your ex a “Happy Birthday” text, ask yourself: “Is this in alignment with my best self?”

Trust the process, trust the planets and (most of all) trust yourself. You got this!

Welcome to Capricorn season — arguably the GOAT season and a time where things just have to make sense. During this placement we can explore themes around responsibility, commitment and initiative in our lives; all such grounding keystones that intertwine with this earth sign almost instinctively. So, with the sun’s return to Capricorn, let’s take a look at what’s in store for us all… and how to up our self care rituals accordingly.

Capricorn season occurs with the Winter Solstice each year in the Northern Hemisphere. It is the first winter season, and the long beginning of the return of greater light and warmth in our days. This can sound either discouraging and dreadful, or represent hope. Light a candle (we’re currently buzzing over the 4 Letter Series locally-poured candles) and get grounded on your mat to reflect on whichever feeling this brings you. Either one is okay.

Never mind it is the busiest time of the year, but Capricorn’s thirst for achievement and success will possibly give you extra motivation to reach for more.

“For some of us, we feel a sense of pressure to do more than we reasonably can, because the need around us is endless. And so we take on an overwhelming or burdensome amount, inevitably leading to a sense of failure when we can’t actually manage it all,” shares Toronto-based astrologer Aerin Fogel. Schedule some time for yourself to unplug, perhaps with a hardcover like Work Won’t Love You Back by labour journalist Sarah Jaffe.

Fogel explains that on the flip side, “others fear the weight of responsibility because we are afraid of doing it wrong, or disappointing the high standards we hold ourselves to. And so we avoid commitment altogether because it feels like too much pressure.”

Now is the time to evaluate which scenario resonates with you, and explore if it’s possible to find strength in agreements and initiatives, rather than fleeing them altogether. If you tend to lean toward the latter, look around for a crisp daily planner to devise clear game plans and achieve stability in the new year ahead. Don’t forget that you don’t have to do everything all at once!

This particular Capricorn season involves a Venus retrograde in the sign of Capricorn, which means we will also be reviewing the changes (and possibly the losses) that have occurred since spring 2020. It will benefit you to find space to accept what cannot be put back together, so that you can start finding a new way forward, said Fogel.

She describes it as fish in a pond. Changes in a larger ecosystem will always impact its contents, like fish in their pond. So when movement occurs in the solar system, or a change in our daily lives takes place, we will feel it. At this liminal time when we sit on the cusp of two years and reflect on everything that’s happened, zero in on principles that are paramount to Capricorn: quality, sustainability and right relationships with the earth. It is a powerful time to rebuild, reorient and upgrade your future.

Happy Sagittarius season! It’s time to embrace curious, kindred spirits and adventurous, adaptable energy. With natural tendencies of intensity, honesty, generosity and boundlessness, this fire sign emits a larger than-life-persona — they don’t want to know a world without abundance. And whether or not you have Sag placements in your astrological chart, you’ll definitely feel the pull of the effervescent archer during this time. So, let’s take a peek at what’s brewing under the sun à la Sagittarius, and zero in on which self-care practices you can add into your routine to align with the forecast.

This is the final full zodiac season of the calendar year (not the last of the zodiac cycle, however), which means you’ve likely been experiencing a lot of introspective thoughts, and perhaps a slight urge to break free from the confines that this year’s responsibilities have thrust upon your routine. Sagittarius is ruled by the planet Jupiter, which embodies expansion and luck. Now is the perfect time to get outside for some good ol’ nature-based healing. A hike or a bit of birding might do the trick. Regardless of what outdoorsy adventures you prefer, SPF is a must (not to sound redundant in the editorial world, but YES, even in the fall and winter), and Salt & Stone’s oil-free mineral sunscreen protects from harmful UV rays all while nourishing skin.

Let’s not forget we are hot off the heels of an intense Scorpio season, so there’s a sense of mellow and calm during this contrasting transition. You might feel less interested in drama and perhaps more focused on yourself. Sagittarius is all about personal mastery, after all. Incorporate some new vitamins into your regimen (Vitamin D levels are commonly low in Canadians), or go big with a Peloton bike in your home.

The total solar eclipse on December 4 sits right in the middle of the season, and what’s notable is that eclipses can help us align with our fates all on their own. This is the perfect time to clear your schedule and do nothing. Kick back with a Tencel weighted blanket and an Ontario hand-poured candle that was inspired by “The World” tarot card, which represents fulfillment, achievement and wholeness.

Paired with the solar eclipse is a new moon on the very same day. Gently find balance between the two and lean into self-reflection, growth and acceptance. New moons are known to be a powerful time to cultivate newness and manifestations, so ground yourself with journaling and express what you want your future to look like. Need a jumping off point? Finding the right journal will help inspire your thoughts to pour onto paper, like Nota’s suede monogram notebook, available at Indigo.

Your Horoscope For 2021: What to Expect, and What to Leave Behind https://fashionmagazine.com/wellness/horoscopes-for-2021/ Mon, 14 Dec 2020 21:37:54 +0000 https://fashionmagazine.com/?p=429704 As the new calendar year approaches, it's time to make space in our lives for all the goodness coming our way

The post Your Horoscope For 2021: What to Expect, and What to Leave Behind appeared first on FASHION Magazine.

]]>

The truth is, the change in the calendar year is rarely a clean break. Some things from 2020 will carry over, others will become building blocks for what’s next. And the things you do leave behind will become important lessons and landmarks in your personal history. Cycles of time are rarely linear in astrology, either. Planets move through different parts of the sky on their own orbits. They create seasons of their own, which play out here on Earth in the conversations, trends and changes. Some eras last longer than others. Some ideas take off, and others fall off into the ether.

As we get ready for 2021, think about what you are carrying over from 2020. What plans and projects are staying with you? Also consider what needs to be left behind. While many people are eager for 2020 to be over because it represents a (hopeful) move away from the challenges of the pandemic, it’s easy to get distracted by global issues and forget to look at the smaller details of our personal lives.

Try to take some time to reflect on what happened for you these past 12 months: What did you learn about yourself? How did you grow? What changes did you make? What decisions did you face? In 2021, Jupiter and Saturn will both be in Aquarius, inspiring each of us to create new visions of the future and carve new pathways for ourselves. On May 13, Jupiter will enter dreamy, spiritual Pisces until July 29, allowing you to make more room in your life for creativity, inspiration and compassion. We can move into kinder, gentler times in 2021 if we allow for it. The opportunity is there, but the work rests within each of us. Often, the compassion the world needs begins with the compassion we’re able to give to ourselves.

How you can do that this year is by taking your dreams to a new level. All signs of the zodiac can benefit from a boost of optimism, hope and faith in 2021—faith that you have what it takes to make something special happen this year.

Read on for your individual horoscope to find out what 2021 has in store for you.

Capricorn (December 22 – January 19)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Work can take on new meaning in 2021. You are tired of trading your time for money and want to make a bigger difference. You know you have something valuable to contribute, but some of your past efforts haven’t quite flourished the way you’d hoped and that left you feeling doubtful and discouraged.

It’s time for that change. As 2020 comes to a close, it takes with it a challenging chapter. You had to rise up, prove yourself and stretch your limits. Now, you want to give back and be of service to others. You’re coming into this new year with a commitment to make your work more meaningful, and to build deeper connections in your community that make change. You’re ready to step into a higher purpose, and put your energy into something that is more than just a paycheque.

Something to leave in 2020: Fear of visibility. Stop holding back. Get yourself out there and let your ideas be known.

Something to create space for in 2021: New relationships. People are drawn to your energy this year, and it’s time to welcome new relationships—socially, professionally or romantically.

Aquarius (January 20 – February 18)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

It’s not uncommon for you to feel like the odd one out, like you’re speaking a different language than everyone around you. It’s not your fault, Aquarius. It’s in your nature to be one step ahead of the rest. You have a different set of ideas, and a different way of moving through the world, and that makes you feel out of sync sometimes.

But finally, 2021 is the year when you start to feel seen and heard in ways you never have before. That idea you’ve been trying to get off the ground? It’s time to make it real. That problem in your relationship you’ve been trying to sort out? It’s going to start to mend. That solution you’ve been looking for within yourself? It’s on its way to you.

Finally, things can start to feel like they are flowing your way with more ease and acceptance. Stop feeling like you need to swim against the stream.

Something to leave in 2020: Resentment from past misunderstandings. People have come and gone from your life and there’s no sense holding onto certain memories anymore. Let it stay in the past.

Something to create space for in 2021: You. Stop hiding behind your work, your screens or your schedule. Show a side of yourself you normally keep hidden and watch how people around you feel moved by your authenticity.

Pisces (February 19 – March 20)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Creative and spiritual expansion are two major themes for you this year, Pisces. It’s time to open your mind and free yourself from a major constraint. It might not be practical to do all that you want to do, but the stars encourage you to at least try. Take a sabbatical, create an artist’s retreat or reduce your working hours to give yourself over to something that feels more important than the daily grind.

The universe is nudging you to honour your ideas and dreams like never before. The challenge is that there are plenty of temptations to pull you off your path, especially once we get into the spring season. Trust your gut and say no when you need to—especially to people who aren’t as invested in their ambitions as you are.

Something to leave in 2020: Stop apologizing for being you. You are allowed to explore your spirituality, creativity and identity without justification.

Something to create space for in 2021: Collaboration with like-minded souls. Find people you can share and create with this year.

Aries (March 21 – April 19)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

This is the year of you, Aries. You are starting 2021 off with new determination to reclaim your true spirit and live a more authentic life. New chapters are opening up for you this year, but the best opportunities available are the ones you decide to create yourself. You have grown so much over the past year, and now is the time to start making use of the wisdom you’ve gained.

Boundaries and priorities are going to be major themes for you in 2021—everything you do and accomplish this year will revolve around your ability to play by your own rules. Make it a regular practice to ask yourself two questions: “What do I need time for?” and “What am I trying to accomplish?”

The sky’s the limit in 2021 if you stay focused and eliminate distractions.

Something to leave in 2020: The belief that you need to be all things to all people. Yes, you’re good at taking on more than most, but it doesn’t mean you have to swoop in and save the day every time.

Something to create space for in 2021: Your mission. Focus on the one thing you believe you are here to accomplish.

Taurus (April 20 – May 20)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

You’re on the cusp of some big changes, Taurus. These are longer-term transformations that won’t necessarily happen overnight, but they will start to reveal themselves in 2021. These changes will be particularly prominent in your career path. You can hit on some important new concepts this year that will help you change the game at work.

Speak up and share your thoughts. Voice your opinions and seek out feedback on your ideas. And don’t be afraid to level-up rather than play it safe. It’s not always easy for you to choose change over stability. But it’s time to see that you’ve built the foundation you need, and now you get to decide what’s next. Don’t be afraid to think bigger than you have before—you’re ready for this.

Something to leave in 2020: Old money habits. Your relationship to your cash flow is keeping you stuck at that level you’re at. Look at how you can create a new relationship with money in 2021.

Something to create space for in 2021: More trust in yourself. Stop doubting what you’re capable of and start believing that no matter what happens, you’ll be able to figure it out.

Gemini (May 21 – June 20)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

2021 puts the spotlight on your network. Are you working with the right people, Gemini? Are you building community with the right friends and acquaintances? If not, you might feel stunted and stifled in your relationships this year. You’re craving new learning opportunities and experiences. Going back to school, or seeking out a mentor or coach can really help you grow.

It’s not all about making professional moves this year, either, though you certainly can expect a solid ROI if you choose to invest in yourself in 2021. But outside of your career, your social network is just as important. Seek out new connections with people who inspire you personally, too. It’s time for you to open your mind, so try joining some meetups or masterminds to build your community.

Something to leave in 2020: Grudges and resentments. Let go of that old, tired energy once and for all. Stop going back and forth with toxic people and stop waiting for apologies that aren’t coming.

Something to create space for in 2021: More reciprocity, respect and openness in your relationships.

Cancer (June 21 – July 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

It’s time to get some new dreams, Cancer, and 2021 promises to show you new possibilities you never imagined before.

The challenge is whether you can embrace the potential that awaits you this year. Will you allow yourself to move into a new reality, or stay where you’re at? There is no right or wrong answer here—the choice is yours. Just keep in mind that opportunities don’t always come around a second time, and 2021 is offering you something that might be exactly what you need. The snag is that it might not come at the right moment—but then, there might not ever be a right time anyway.

So decide whether you’re willing to take a risk and say yes to a new possibility. It might end up being so much better than you expect.

Something to leave in 2020: Energy-draining situations. You learned a lot this year about what you want to give your time and attention to. Make sure to leave those time-sucking situations in the past.

Something to create space for in 2021: Mystery and adventure. Say yes to new experiences and see where they take you.

Leo (July 23 – August 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

It’s time to get back out there, Leo. The world needs your genius in 2021, and the stars are encouraging you to make a big statement this year. Launch that project, commit to your art or find a publisher for that amazing manuscript. Whatever you’ve been working on behind the scenes this past year, it’s time for a big reveal.

And if you don’t have anything in the works yet? Don’t worry, it’s not too late. This is a year to think of how your creative genius can be put to use, so start brainstorming. What do you want to make, share or show off? Stop hiding and start creating. Your audience awaits.

Something to leave in 2020: Your shyness. Wait, a shy Leo? That sounds impossible, but it’s true. Don’t hold yourself back any longer. The more you get comfortable in the spotlight, the easier it will get.

Something to create space for in 2021: Your creative passions. Pick up a new hobby, or revisit an old one. Carve out space in your schedule for inspiring endeavours.

Virgo (August 23 – September 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Inspiration is running high for you in 2021. Where 2020 might have hindered your motivation at times, the New Year brings a change of pace. Soon, you will have ample opportunity to get back to yourself, and to pick up some passion projects that have been languishing on the sidelines.

And you don’t have to do it alone: Luck and opportunity come through teamwork in 2021, so stay open to collaborations and social ties. Expect to meet the right people at the right time, and trust that your own inspiration and intuition are guiding you to the ideas you need—when you need them. An important plan will finally feel like it’s falling into place.

Something to leave in 2020: Leave behind those arbitrary deadlines you set for yourself, and the pressure they create. Stop forcing your life to happen under a specific timeline.

Something to create space for in 2021: Ease and flow. As you develop a better relationship to time, you’ll find that life shows up for you in the most meaningful ways.

Libra (September 22 – October 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

The universe is putting you on some exciting paths this year. You’re feeling more inspired about your future than ever before, and you’re tuned into some sharp insights about what you’re ready to accomplish next. Embrace the unknown this year and be ready for anything. 2021 is not a time for predictability or steady routines. The unexpected awaits, but if you’re open to it, then you’ll find a lot of adventures in the year to come.

Spontaneity is going to be good for you, as long as you can balance it with your responsibilities. Pay close attention to what you’re thinking, feeling and observing, and challenge yourself to break out of any ruts or habits that are keeping you down. It’s time for you to bring some creativity into your daily life, so give yourself permission to play and explore.

Something to leave in 2020: Let go of that guilt you feel, Libra. What’s done is done and you can’t go back and do things over—so decide instead to change the course of your actions moving forward.

Something to create space for in 2021: You’re ready for a new way of working. Whether it’s finding a new career, or changing up your current working styles, 2021 calls for a reinvention in your work routine.

Scorpio (October 23 – November 21)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Freedom is a major theme for you in 2021. Are you ready to break away from old patterns, relationships and career paths? You don’t have to make changes in every area of your life this year, but know that the opportunity is there for some massive shifts if you’re in need of change.

This is the year where you might finally quit the day job and strike out on your own, or break off a long-term commitment that hasn’t felt right in a long time. You’re prioritizing your freedom and independence this year, and you’re ready to take some dramatic steps in order to experience the life you crave.

Take charge of your life, Scorpio. You know yourself better than anyone else, and this can be the year where you finally take control.

Something to leave in 2020: Head games and power plays. Stop engaging with people who thrive on conflict. You’re ready for more mature relationships.

Something to create space for in 2021: A new sense of self. You are not the same person you were a year ago. Find a guide or mentor who can help you to see what you are capable of.

Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Life is going to feel like it’s changing fast this year, Sagittarius. There are expansive opportunities waiting for you in 2021, but you’ll have to work hard to stay grounded and focused if you’re to make the most of what’s on offer.

There is a danger this year of feeling like you’re floating, being pulled off in different directions at once and conflicted by the choices you see for yourself. It’s not a bad thing to have options, but it can lead to analysis paralysis if you’re not clear in what you want. To make this year count, you’ll want to sharpen your decision-making skills and clarify your priorities. You can have success in whatever you choose, but you can’t say yes to everything. The challenge in 2021 is going to be to pick a lane and commit to it.

Something to leave in 2020: You sacrificed a lot of downtime in the last year. Leave behind the idea that your rest and relaxation have to be secondary to everything else.

Something to create space for in 2021: Spirituality and meditation. There is a window of opportunity in the spring for you to tap into a new spiritual paradigm that will help you connect to your path and purpose in deeper, clearer ways.

Buckle up! December’s astrology brings game-changing energy just in time for the New Year.

We start the month feeling the effects of eclipse season with the Gemini full moon and lunar eclipse that arrives on Monday, November 30 and reverberates into the start of December. Ideas and communications will be highlighted as a result. Stay open to inspiration early in the month, because that bright idea that crosses your mind could turn into 2021’s awesome new side hustle. Or that important message you want to share could make you the next TikTok sensation.

Community and social bonds will also have a special focus in December. The new moon and solar eclipse in Sagittarius on December 14 will continue to offer inspiration and creative momentum. But December’s eclipse season can also push you to re-evaluate where you stand in your social circles and communities. Power struggles may come to a head, and any tired, draining relationships can come to a breaking point. You might have to make some important decisions around boundaries and respect.

We’ll all have to watch for flaring tempers and self-righteous declarations once mid-December rolls around: With three planets in fiery Sagittarius—Venus, Mercury and the Sun—our hearts, minds and egos may be quick to jump to conclusions. Be careful about buying into your own hype. A little extra effort to stay grounded will go a long way right now.

But the most significant astrological event of the month occurs on Monday, December 21, when Jupiter and Saturn form a Great Conjunction. It’s considered significant because these two planets don’t conjunct very often—only about every 20 years or so. And in this case, it’s the closest these planets have been since 1623. For you, this conjunction can help you break through personal limitations. If you have hit walls or roadblocks this year, you can tap into this energy to help you find a new way forward. And if you’ve decided that 2021 is a time to turn a big dream into reality, then this can be the beginning of putting the proper structure in place to manifest an important goal.

Read on for your individual horoscope to see what December has in store for your sign.

Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

December is an important month for you personally and socially. Your relationship to your community can change and grow if you move forward with the right intentions. What that means is that you have the opportunity to take a greater role in establishing yourself as a leader to your friends, colleagues, clients or fans right now. People may be looking to you to set an example, and you’re feeling quite fired up and ready to take action.

But this all comes with responsibility, and a misstep can send you in the wrong direction. Remember that there is a difference between confidence and clarity: Feeling confident about an opinion or belief is not always enough.

You can grow and take up space without burning bridges or hurt people’s feelings. Connect with your own sense of compassion and integrity and you’ll find the way forward.

If you do one thing this month:

Reflect on how you can be kind without being inauthentic.

Capricorn (December 22 – January 19)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

December marks a turning point for you, Capricorn. Saturn, your ruler, finally leaves Capricorn for Aquarius on Thursday, December 17.

The last few years have brought some major growth for you. The journey has been rich, even if it always hasn’t been easy. Now you can feel a little bit of that pressure start to ease up as a new story begins to unfold in your life.

The Great Conjunction with Jupiter and Saturn will be an important event for you to pay attention to as well. This is an opportunity for you to shake off some limiting beliefs and old insecurities that have prevented you from taking steps towards your most cherished goals.

If you do one thing this month:

Name one thing you would like to change in your life, and then figure out what you would have to do to make it happen.

Aquarius (January 20 – February 18)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

New beginnings are on the horizon, Aquarius. You’ve been dealt some tough blows these last few years, but you’ve always managed to come out on top nonetheless.

Now the universe is helping you find your footing and gain some better ground as we head into 2021. The work you’ve been doing this year will start to pay off and your life can start to take a different shape—one that feels more positive, secure and hopeful.

It may not all happen fast, though, but that’s OK. The astrology of December reminds you that you’re worth more than 15 minutes of fame. Focus on playing the long game with your plans right now.

If you do one thing this month:

Set an intention to do something that intimidates you. You might not be ready to move towards it just yet, but try to name it and hold it as a vision for something to work on in 2021.

Pisces (February 19 – March 20)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

December brings some dynamic changes to your career, Pisces. You might be struggling against some big questions right now about how to get to the next level in your work life. You’re outgrowing certain aspects of your career path. You have a sense of what you want next, but it might feel so much bigger than you right now that you’re not sure what to do with your ambition.

This month brings some important insights as to what your next steps might be here. Don’t discount yourself right now—you’re ready for this next phase, and it can be as exciting as you suspect. Open yourself to new ideas and get creative about how you can make your next career move happen.

If you do one thing this month:

Make some new connections. Follow some leaders in your industry you admire, or reach out to a colleague or peer who can offer some guidance or mentorship.

Aries (March 21 – April 19)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Finally you feel clear, focused, and ready to wrap up your year. This month you can zone in on exactly what you need to be doing with your time. Don’t be afraid to get relentless with your schedule, Aries. Say no to distractions and to anything that doesn’t align with your current intentions. Let go of projects, tasks and habits that whittle away your days. Make space in your calendar and in your mind to tackle the priorities that you want to have wrapped before the end of the year.

And pay close attention to what inspires you this month. The Gemini/Sagittarius eclipse cycle that we’re in is going to be an important one for you if you have ambitions to write or publish, or take up more space in the public sphere. Make room to visualize and plot your ideas because December is a time to plant some powerful seeds.

If you do one thing this month:

Clear your digital clutter. Delete old files, apps, and emails you no longer need. Reorganize your desktop and documents to make things faster and easier to access, with as few distractions as possible.

Taurus (April 20 – May 20)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

You might feel like you’re riding a tidal wave of emotion as December kicks off. Don’t fight it if you’re more withdrawn than usual, or craving cozy, quiet days and stress-free moments.

You might also be feeling like everyone around you is so much further along than you right now. The astrology of December wants you to know that no one wins when they play comparison games. Keep focusing on where you’re trying to get to. Trust that things are happening, even if it’s taking a bit longer than you hoped.

If any insecurity or self-doubt that has been creeping in, know that it’s not going to linger much longer anyway. Once we reach mid-December, the energy lifts and you’ll tap into some new energy and clearer results. Be patient and gentle with yourself.

If you do one thing this month:

Unfollow any social media pages that make you feel small, envious or stressed out. Find some fresh sources of inspiration or take a break from online scrolling altogether.

Gemini (May 21 – June 20)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

December is a significant month for you, Gemini. The decisions you are making right now are going to help set you up for 2021.
But don’t go into this feeling like you have to live under added pressure about the choices you have right now. If you’re not clear yet about what you need to be focusing on, allow yourself to at least stay open to what’s coming up for you.

Pay attention to your thoughts and your feelings: What are you tired of putting up with? What are you craving more of? What are you ready to experience next? The astrology of December will bring some important insights that will help shape your direction from here on in.

If you do one thing this month:

Spend some time journalling through your thoughts, feelings, hopes and dreams. Don’t rush through it: Set aside some time each week in December to connect with your inner self.

Cancer (June 21 – July 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Don’t wait until January to set your New Year’s resolutions, Cancer. You’re ready for change now, and the astrology of the month ahead supports the decisions you want to make. It’s time for you to build new habits and routines, and to get firm with yourself—and those around you—about those personal boundaries that keep getting crossed. That family member who always calls at inconvenient times? That co-worker who constantly messages you after hours? That friend who doesn’t respect your need for alone time?

They all need to hear your clear, honest truth right now—even if it’s not easy for you to say it. You are allowed to make changes to your life, and you are allowed to decide how you want to spend your time. Set new priorities for your health and happiness this month and trust that everything else will fall in place as it needs to.

If you do one thing this month:

Implement one new change to your routine or health regime this month to help you get a jump start on 2021.

Leo (July 23 – August 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Your creativity matters, Leo, and this month is a powerful time for you to get yourself out there. If you’ve been sitting on some ideas for a new YouTube channel, or have been craving more time to write or paint, December’s astrology supports all kinds of creative endeavours for you.

But this doesn’t just have to be about developing your art as a hobby or personal passion: There’s also a lot of potential for you to grow your audience, build a platform and cultivate a community. Think of how you might want to boost your visibility, get yourself out there or promote an existing body of work to a new audience.

Think big this month and let your inspiration take the lead.

If you do one thing this month:

Strategize your creative path for 2021. What do you hope to accomplish next year? How do you want your talents to be used? Work out some key goals to focus on.

Virgo (August 23 – September 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

You’re craving freedom this month, Virgo. You’re ready to break out of some old ruts and routines, but the last thing you want is to replace an old routine with a major new commitment.

Breathe. Make space for yourself this month. Give yourself permission to not have any plans if you can help it. Don’t force yourself to think too much about what’s around the corner, either. We can get into some serious planning when the New Year is looming, but the stars this month are urging you not to rush into any big decisions right now. Instead, leave some room in your life and see what shows up to fill those gaps. Let life come to you for once rather than rush out to find an answer to what’s next.

If you do one thing this month:

Keep some days open where you can get up and do anything you want—with no plans, no expectations and no obligations.

Libra (September 23 – October 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

December is a time of re-evaluation for you, Libra. Your priorities are in flux and what was important to you at the start of 2020 might be looking quite different as we head into the end of the year.

Let go of what’s no longer lighting you up—even if it’s something you once desperately wanted. You are going through a personal evolution that will help you to tap into important new opportunities once 2021 rolls around. But before that happens, you’ll have to let go of something that’s taking up space in your mind and heart. Move on with gratitude for the journey you’ve had so far, and get ready for a new chapter to begin.

If you do one thing this month:

Set an intention for one thing you would like to invite into your life in 2021. Write it down, or make symbolic space for it by letting go of something else.

Scorpio (October 23 – November 21)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

You feel like nothing can stop you right now, Scorpio. After a year of stops and starts, you are finally feeling like you’ve gained some ground in an important area of your life. Trust that the decisions you’ve been making are going to get you the results you want. It hasn’t been easy to get this point—you faced some unexpected roadblocks this year that slowed you down sometimes. But now the path is clear, and so are you.

Let your determination guide the way, and enjoy the journey you’re on. Remember that you don’t have to push or struggle so much anymore, so be sure to take a much-deserved break while you’re at it.

If you do one thing this month:

Treat yourself. Indulge in something you feel is luxurious—whether it’s a hot bubble bath or splurging on something special.

Scorpio season is here, which means it’s time to turn inward as we wade through Scorpio’s deep, reflective waters. The month ahead is a time to reconnect to yourself. This is when personal transformation may take centre stage in your life. It’s also a time when many people start to take inventory of the year that was, and the year that is just around the corner.

Mercury is also retrograde until November 3. The planet of thought and communication has been retrograde since October 13. This retrograde started in Scorpio and then slipped back into Libra. These few weeks may have brought important realizations to the surface for you. Sometimes people experience confusion or miscommunication during Mercury retrograde periods—but this isn’t because the planets are intentionally out to get you. Astrology is a symbolic, energetic shift.

Every Mercury retrograde period is an invitation from the universe for you to look at what may need to be done better moving forward: What needs to be fixed, cleared up, edited or cut out altogether? Once Mercury stations direct in Libra on November 3, you have the opportunity to implement any lessons or changes throughout the rest of the month.

Mars also stations direct soon, on November 13. The planet of action has been retrograde in its home sign of Aries since September 9. These past couple of months have challenged personal limitations, reminding each of us to be mindful about where we choose to put our energy.

Late November brings even more astrological impact when eclipse season kicks in. On Monday, November 30, the Gemini full moon coincides with a lunar eclipse, creating space for a new chapter in your life. Each of these dates will be turning points for you. You may feel like a veil is lifting and you have a new sense of clarity.

Read on for your individual horoscope to see what November has in store for your sign.

Scorpio (October 23 – November 21)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Your momentum is about to pick up, Scorpio. Maybe you already feel it: a sense that change is in the air, or a feeling that something is about to happen but you’re not exactly sure what yet.

So far, autumn has had you catching up to yourself. It’s been a time to rest, reflect and redirect some of your efforts. If you have anything that feels incomplete or undone, try to wrap it up as best you can by November 13 when Mars, your ruler, stations direct.

Once mid-November rolls around, you’ll be ready to move on to bigger and better things. Obstacles that have been standing in your way this year are starting to lose their power and you’re ready to move forward with renewed commitment and determination.

If you do one thing this month:

Pick a project or task to complete by mid-November, especially if it’s something that’s been hanging around way longer than you wanted it to. Finish it off so that you can clear your mind of it and move ahead.

Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

There’s a lot of change in the air for you as 2020 closes out, Sagittarius. November brings some early stirrings of new possibilities for you. Stay open to your dreams and ideas this month. Follow what inspires and angers you. Notice what you’ve grown resentful of in your life—even if it was once something you held dear.

There’s a new chapter about to begin but what it all entails is still being worked out behind the scenes. You can feel yourself being pulled towards the unknown but you might not have words yet for what kind of future you are building for yourself. Don’t push for answers just yet. Trust in the process and take your time with where you’re at.

If you do one thing this month:

Take an hour to journal through your thoughts and feelings. Write down what feels exciting, confusing, scary and inspiring. Think of this journal entry as the start of a new roadmap for your journey.

Capricorn (December 22 – January 19)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Get ready, Capricorn: The universe is starting to push you out of your comfort zone. This is not to make you fall or fail—no, it’s to make you fly.

But in some ways, you might feel as though the aspirations you hold right now are so big as to be out of reach altogether. You can see potential but you might not feel like you can access it yet.

Don’t worry: This isn’t the time to act upon anything major if you’re not ready. November is an incubation period for your next phase of fabulousness. Be patient with yourself and take it one day at a time. You’re sitting on some solid gold plans and you’ll know when the time is right to put them into motion.

If you do one thing this month:

Work on your relationship to courage: What can you do to feel more courageous and to take strategic, healthy risks in your life?

Aquarius (January 20 – February 18)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

You’re blazing your own trail this month, Aquarius. And it’s about time. You’ve been waiting for other people’s permission to do something that’s been yours for the taking all along. Now you’re starting to see that you can stand on your own. You’re figuring things out that would have overwhelmed you a year ago. You are growing, Aquarius, and the ways in which you are beginning to flourish are monumental.

Late 2020 could go down as a time where, years from now, you look back and realize this was a major turning point in your life. Your chance to take greater control over your destiny is here.

If you do one thing this month:

Stop asking for advice. Challenge yourself to go one week where you don’t ask anyone else for their thoughts or opinions.

Pisces (February 19 – March 20)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Get ready to move, Pisces. You’ve been working away quietly on some plans these past few months. You’ve questioned yourself sometimes, and wondered if you’re going in the right direction.

Clarity and confidence are about to return and you’ll soon have the answers you’ve been waiting for in regards to a big dream. Just remember that it’s better to make some kind of commitment than to continue to stay stuck between ideas or options.

November encourages you to take the next step in solidifying a plan. It might feel scary at first to commit yourself, but once you eliminate other options you’ll be able to see that you’re on the right track.

If you do one thing this month:

Take inspiration from a public figure you admire. What challenges did they face? What did they overcome, and how? What did it take for them to rise to the top? Choose one action or character trait you can emulate this month.

Aries (March 21 – April 19)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

A standard rule for Aries sun signs is the old adage “look before you leap.” That especially holds true for you in the first half of November. Your confidence is one of your greatest assets, Aries, but like anything else in life, it can do some serious damage if used in excess.

The astrology of November warns against letting your ego get the best of you. No matter how sure of yourself you are these days, it’s no excuse to hurt anyone’s feelings or run your opinion all over town. Be careful about getting carried away in the moment or blurting out the first thing that comes to mind. You can still be passionate and authentic while also being responsible and considerate.

If you do one thing this month:

Before you make that passionate Instagram post or send off that fiery email to your boss, ask yourself: “How would I feel if I were on the receiving end of these words?”

Taurus (April 20 – May 20)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

You are in the zone this month, Taurus. The first half of November has you tuned into exactly what other people need to hear—and your graceful communication skills will help you stay honest and fair even when you need to deliver some tough love.

If it seems like everyone is turning to you for advice these days, you’re not imagining things. Your powers of perception are strong, and your friends and colleagues turn to you when they need no-nonsense guidance and a listening ear.

By the second half of November, it’s time for you to turn some of that attention onto yourself. You’ve been giving a lot of your time and energy away to other people this year and it’s starting to catch up with you. You might start wondering whose feelings you’re carrying around—yours or everyone else’s. Make sure you take care not to carry around everyone else’s baggage.

If you do one thing this month:

Plan some down time this month where no one is going to interrupt you. Carve out a few hours, or even a few days, where you can be alone to do whatever you want.

Gemini (May 21 – June 20)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Are you ready to change your mind, Gemini? The astrology of November is setting you up to go through some major paradigm shifts.

Get ready to open to new ideas, beliefs and concepts as November hits. You’re moving into a period of maturation where you’re starting to realize some of the things you used to believe were so important are actually not the be-all-end-all you thought they were.

This kind of personal growth takes time, so don’t expect it to happen overnight. And don’t expect it to be crystal-clear right away, either. This month marks the beginning of some big decisions you’ll be making as we get into 2021—and those decisions will help you to take bigger leaps into your life’s purpose.

If you do one thing this month:

Develop your decision-making skills. Find a book or workshop that can help you become a more confident decision-maker and put the time into developing this part of yourself.

Cancer (June 21 – July 22)

There is a part of yourself you can no longer hide, Cancer. Throughout this past year, a piece of your identity has had to be put off to the side. It’s been a temporary move, but one that’s been challenging for you. The good news is that it’s time to stop putting yourself off. November is the month for you to dig deep and honour your whole being.

Get honest about how much time alone you really need to feel your best. Be upfront about what it will take for you to reach a certain goal this year, or to put your time into a hobby or side hustle that really matters to you. Stop putting off your dreams and start making them part of your regular routine.

If you do one thing this month:

Come up with a new schedule for yourself—one that allows you to have time to pursue your passions. Guard your downtime and tell your friends and loved ones that your “me time” is non-negotiable.

Leo (July 23 – August 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)

The focus for you this month is all about the homefront. Get back to your roots by focusing on what makes you feel most at home. Reconnect with old friends or family you haven’t spoken to in years. Organize your personal spaces and do some redecorating. Or pull out some old family recipes and treat yourself to some old-fashioned home cooking.

If domesticity isn’t quite your jam, then at least put your energy into your self-care routines this month. Review your emotional hygiene and be real with yourself about how much downtime you actually take—and whether it’s working for you.

If you do one thing this month:

Do something this month that will help you get comfortable. Think: Comfort foods or comforting people or activities. Make it a priority to feel safe cozy and calm.

Virgo (August 23 – September 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Mercury, your rule, stations retrograde on Tuesday, November 3, bringing forward some answers that may have been elusive these past few weeks. This is the time you’ve been waiting for if you’ve felt stuck and unable to take action on an important plan or project.

Your inspiration is also running high throughout November, so try not to take on too much early on in the month if possible. You’ll want to have some room left to say yes to unexpected opportunities and new ideas that present themselves as the months unfolds.

If you do one thing this month:

Keep your options open right now. Don’t plan everything down to the last detail: Leave some time on your schedule for spontaneity and creativity, too.

Libra (September 23 – October 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

November is a time to make pleasure a priority, Libra. You have a tendency to get caught up in what other people want, but right now it’s all about you. What do you want to do this month? How do you want your days to look? How do you want to feel on a regular basis?

Explore your deepest desires. That thing you never make any time for? Go do that—especially if it makes you happy. Think about what your life would be like if you focused a little more on some simple, everyday pleasures and see what you can do to make those a reality.

If you do one thing this month:

Challenge yourself to do one thing that makes you happy every day this month.

Just because 2020 hasn’t exactly been the best year doesn’t mean Halloween has to be a bust, too. In fact, there’s plenty of magic in the air on October 31 this year thanks to a rare blue moon.

What exactly is a blue moon? It’s when two full moons occur within the same calendar month. It’s pretty special to have a full moon fall on Halloween already—it only happens about every 19 years or so—but a blue moon on Halloween is even rarer.

At Halloween, it is believed that the veils between worlds are at their thinnest. We are halfway between the autumn equinox and the winter solstice, a turning point in the season when we prepare for the cool months and shorter days. Symbolically, this is a turning point in the season that invites each of us to go inward and reflect upon our relationships with ourselves. What is within you that you want to nurture, cultivate or heal? What is your relationship with your intuition, your roots and your inner compass?

Halloween’s blue moon is in the earthy sign of Taurus, an excellent sign to help you explore these questions. Taurus is powerfully rooted in the magic of the earth. It understands the mysteries of nature and honours the gifts of the cycles and seasons. It helps us to get centred and rooted within the potential of our own hearts, minds and bodies. Conjunct Uranus, the change-maker, October’s blue moon is going to help you shake things up in an area of your life where you’ve felt stuck.

Read below for your individual horoscope to learn what this blue moon on Halloween means for you.

Capricorn (December 22 – January 19)

You are craving more visibility as a thought leader in your community. You have brilliant ideas to share and do amazing work—but sometimes you feel like it gets buried behind the scenes.

This month’s blue moon is bringing you an important insight into how you can leverage your creativity. But don’t feel that you need to spend Halloween brainstorming your next big move. No, the astrology for October 31 encourages you to do the opposite: Go wandering around. Read a book. Break up your routine. Dance in your living room. Do whatever it takes to get out of your head and out of your usual schedule for the day. Shaking things up is going to help make space for your next big idea.

How to channel your inner magic this Halloween:

Write down a statement about where you see yourself a year from now. Write it down as though it is already happening. State what you’re doing for work, what you’ve accomplished, or where you’re living. If it helps, light an orange candle to set the mood.

Aquarius (January 20 – February 18)

October’s blue moon is all about reconnecting to your inner child and the happiness you can create right here at home. Even if trick or treating isn’t happening in your neighbourhood, the stars are encouraging you to deck out your place as though Halloween is on in full force.

Turn your living room into your own personal Halloween party. Settle in with all the candy you can eat and binge-watch all of your favourite scary movies. Heck, dress up in a costume, even. Get fully into the spirit of the season no matter what that might mean for you.

How to channel your inner magic this Halloween:

Think back to your childhood. Imagine that you’re a kid again and you’re making plans for Halloween. What would you do? What would you wear? What would you eat? Honour your younger self by creating the Halloween of your childhood dreams.

Pisces (February 19 – March 20)

Stay open to inspiration, Pisces. The muse is trying to get your attention. If you’ve been looking for a new project or intending to start a new hobby, October’s blue moon is one to watch.

Inspiration can strike any moment now, and some Pisceans might end up with more ideas than they know what to do with. Which isn’t a bad thing—as long as you don’t feel overwhelmed by it all. Remember that it’s better to commit to one idea than be distracted by several.

This can be the season where you look back one day and realize everything started here. Keep your head clear and pay close attention to what inspires you while you’re out and about.

How to channel your inner magic this Halloween:

Try writing by candlelight on Halloween night and see where your imagination takes you. Or, jump start your creativity with crystals that are believed to support creativity, like carnelian, orange calcite and citrine.

Aries (March 21 – April 19)

Need to manifest some money, Aries? Think big this Halloween. The blue moon of October 31 is helping you to level up in this world. It’s time to stop playing small and invest in yourself in a big way.

Set an intention to clear up any lingering debts and clean up any bad spending habits. Forge a new relationship with your wallet by treating money like a friend rather than an object.

If you’ve been looking for a career change, this is the time to put yourself out there for new opportunities. Set an intention to become the mover and shaker you know you are.

How to channel your inner magic this Halloween:

Get clear about your money goals. Write them down and work out exactly what you need to do to make them happen. Want a little extra magic thrown in? Light a green candle while you sort out your money plans.

Taurus (April 20 – May 20)

Halloween’s blue moon is lighting you up, Taurus. Don’t be surprised if you feel a little more energized than usual on October 31: There is an electric charge in the air. Use it wisely.

Step out of your comfort zone and do something you don’t normally give yourself permission to do. This is a time for you to re-examine the rules you live by and whether they are keeping you secure, or holding you back. You might be surprised to find that an old security blanket is actually weighing you down.

How to channel your inner magic this Halloween:

Explore the question: “What possibilities exist within me?” Take your time and let the answers surface. Don’t judge them as they pop up. Choose one or two of the most exciting answers you receive and reflect upon what would need to happen in order for you to bring one of those possibilities to life.

Gemini (May 21 – June 20)

You’re craving more time to explore your creative depths, Gemini. Take Halloween night to yourself to binge-watch some of your favourite scary movies, or curl up with a thought-provoking book and let your imagination run wild. Keep a journal nearby to jot down any flashes of inspiration that may come to you.

Blue moons are often believed to bring rare opportunities, and your fertile mind is ready for a new seed to be planted this Halloween. If you’ve ever wanted to write a book or script, or if you’ve been struggling to get an artistic idea off the ground, October 31 can help you break out of any creative blocks and find the inspiration you’re searching for.

How to channel your inner magic this Halloween:

Let your imagination call the shots. Set some time aside to create or reflect upon an idea you hold close to your heart. Need some help getting started? Crystals like sodalite and lapis lazuli are powerful talismans for creative endeavours.

Cancer (June 21 – July 22)

Things are not business as usual this year, and that also goes for Halloween traditions. But you’re not letting that stop you from getting into the spirit of things. Create your own Halloween tradition this year, whether it’s something that’s just for you, or something everyone can participate in.

You might decide to organize a virtual Halloween party—with costumes, of course—or gather some of your favourite friends for a full moon ritual via Skype.

If you’d rather spend some solo time this Halloween, explore what this time of year means to you and create a new way to honour the depths of the fall season.

How to channel your inner magic this Halloween:

Think of how you and your BFFs can share your hopes and dreams together. Create an accountability group or support circle to champion each other. Think of it as your own little coven where you bond over the magic you weave throughout your lives.

Leo (July 23 – August 22)

The energy of this blue moon has you feeling restless and ready to make big moves, Leo. You’re ready for your life to grow, change and hand you a bigger opportunity than you’ve ever had before. To dream big you’ve got to play big, and this Halloween, the stars are encouraging you to commit to your most exciting goal yet.

Some advice: Don’t talk yourself out of it. When you start to level up, all of your blocks and fears become clear. If doubt starts to cloud your vision right now, remember: Your dreams are not silly, it’s never too late, and you’re not wasting your time.

How to channel your inner magic this Halloween:

Think of a successful person you admire. Spend some time learning about their life. What did they do? What mistakes did they make? What steps did they take? Find inspiration in their successes (and failures) and choose one action you can take right now based off of your role model.

Virgo (August 23 – September 22)

Do you feel like the universe is trying to break you open this year, Virgo? It might be because you’re tapped into some major cosmic forces these days that are making your world feel topsy turvy.

This year is all about spiritual growth. This is the kind of personal change that leads to new chapters and important journeys. And Halloween’s blue moon is stirring up some exciting changes for you, but the energy of this lunation is one that starts from within. Cultivate your spiritual side. Learn something that expands your mind. Allow your perception to be forever changed.

How to channel your inner magic this Halloween:

Explore a new spiritual outlet, or dig deep into an existing path. Treat yourself to a new tarot deck, sign up for an astrology workshop or book an online reading with your favourite witchy reader. Surrender to whatever is calling to you and let the magic unfold from there.

Libra (September 23 – October 22)

“Are those your feelings, or mine?” You might be asking yourself this question a lot as Halloween rolls around. You are often highly perceptive and make an effort to be mindful of other people’s thoughts and feelings, but this month’s blue moon is making you eerily tuned into the people around you to the point where you feel like a sponge for other people’s emotions.

Don’t feel guilty if you need to recharge. Take a time out to watch a movie or go for a long walk under the light of the blue moon if it feels right. You are picking up on all kinds of vibes right now, but it’s not your job to feel everybody else’s feelings for them.

How to channel your inner magic this Halloween:

Work on developing your intuition. Treat yourself to a book about psychic development, or check out an online workshop to help you harness your intuitive abilities. Crystals like clear quartz and moonstone can also help to support intuitive development.

Scorpio (October 23 – November 21)

Let’s face it: Halloween is your time, Scorpio. It’s your birthday season and you’re in the mood to make it memorable—even if Halloween has to look a little different this year. (Thanks, 2020.)

This year’s blue moon is encouraging you to get adventurous. Connect with the friends in your life who are down for anything and find a way to make this Halloween one to remember, even if it’s at a safe distance. Think about the possibilities: Is there a virtual Victorian séance you could all attend? Or could you get together for an online group tarot reading?

The astrology for you this Halloween is one that merges fun and friends with the unexpected. Gather your bravest pals and see where the night leads.

How to channel your inner magic this Halloween:

What scares you, Scorpio? Out of all the signs, you tend to be drawn to the darker side of life, but what people don’t often know is that you need to be in control at all times. This Halloween, challenge yourself to face a fear and show your vulnerable side a little bit.

Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21)

Have you ever thought about making Halloween your personal holiday? Because that’s what the stars are encouraging you to do this year. Even if you can’t take the whole day to yourself, the astrology of October 31 suggests that you take some serious downtime however you can. This Halloween feels deeply personal and spiritual for you.

Don’t feel pressured to be part of other people’s plans if you can help it, Sag. Take this time for yourself. Create your own ritual, take yourself on a walking meditation, or disconnect from the rest of the world so that you can lose yourself in the magic of the moment.

How to channel your inner magic this Halloween:

What does the word “ritual” inspire for you? What kind of ceremony might you hold for yourself if you could do anything you wanted? Think of the magic you want to experience for yourself this year and do some research on how to put together your own sacred ceremony.

It’s Libra season, the turning point in the northern hemisphere when nights become longer as the daylight slips away. This is the time of year when two big themes begin to emerge: sowing and completion.

We are half a year away from the spring season, which is often looked at as a time of beginnings. And that means autumn is a beautiful time to sow a seed or two for spring. The full moons of fall—Aries, Taurus and Gemini—correspond to the new moons of spring.

Spring and fall are intertwined, part of a greater cycle that you can tap into your after year. In the coming days, take a quiet moment for yourself and explore the question, “What would I like to grow in my life next spring?”

Of course, before you jump too far ahead into new possibilities, you will want to finish what you’ve started first. Completion is the other major theme throughout October. With Mars retrograde in Aries until November 13, and Mercury retrograde in Scorpio from October 13 to November 3, the skies are strongly encouraging each of us to take our time and focus on the finish line.

Don’t pressure yourself to take on anything too big right now unless you have to. Instead of initiating new plans and projects, try to stay the course with what you’ve already begun and focus on what’s in front of you for now.

Read on for your individual horoscope to see what October has in store for your sign.

Libra (September 23 – October 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Happy birthday, Libra! You are celebrating another trip around the sun and with it comes a call to explore what you want to conquer in the year ahead.

The skies are encouraging you to dig deep into what your mission is at this stage in your life. This doesn’t mean you have to have every detail of your existence figured out. Your mission can be whatever you need it to be. It can be about play and adventure, or social justice and change. It can be about art and rebellion, or beauty and expression. It can be a combination of things, and a contradiction, too.

This year, your homework is to determine your mission by embracing the parts of you that just don’t seem to add up: the juxtapositions and mysteries, the moods and surprises. Own all of yourself, even the things that aren’t so easily explained or understood. That’s what makes you interesting, Libra: You make people think. And this year, you can get minds turning in a whole new way.

If you do one thing this month:

Celebrate yourself. Choose at least one thing you’re proud of having accomplished in the past year and do something special to honour it.

Scorpio (October 23 – November 21)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Don’t be too strict with yourself when it comes to your routines this month, Scorpio. It’s going to be a challenge to stay in flow and maintain your usual rhythms right now. And even though that may feel frustrating sometimes (let’s be real: you prefer to be in control as much as possible), it might actually be the best thing for you.

This is your month to play. We’re slowly creeping towards Scorpio season and the skies want you to ease up on yourself a bit before your birthday rolls around in the coming weeks. There will be enough to focus on then—for now, let yourself ease up on the pressure.

If plans fall through, let them go. If you can cut yourself some slack or find a short cut here or there, take it. This isn’t to say you need to become careless or impractical, of course, but this is a gentle permission to hit that snooze button in the morning, grab a nap here and there, and take your time wherever you can.

If you do one thing this month:

Stop being so hard on yourself. You don’t always have to be on and ready to go. Let yourself indulge in a little relaxation when you can.

Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

You’ve always been able to follow your own lead, Sagittarius, and October is no exception to that. In fact, you might face some decisions this month that will test your instinct and your loyalty to yourself.

More and more you feel like you are becoming the person you were always meant to be. But when we grow closer to our own truths is also when life tests us: Those tests can be choices as to whether we expand, contract or hold still.

This month brings you opportunity to expand in new and exciting ways—but to make the most of the growth that’s ahead, you may need to dig deeper than ever to find your courage. Be bold and brave. Trust in yourself and what you are capable of. You have a track record of blazing your own trail and that was no fluke: That was all you.

If you do one thing this month:

If there’s a leap of faith you’ve been waiting to take, sit down this month and get clear about what would need to happen for you to take that next step. Make a plan to help bring an idea into reality.

Capricorn (December 22 – January 19)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

What’s on your to-do list, Capricorn? You may be itching to gain momentum with a new project, but October is encouraging you to look at what needs to be wrapped up first. Is there an old idea or project that’s taking up space in your mind and body? Do you have the ghosts of intentions past haunting your imagination?

Make room for new energy by finishing what you’ve started first. Or clear your mental and physical spaces by getting rid of anything that’s been lingering too long. Think: old clothing that you’ve been holding onto for nostalgia’s sake, half-finished craft projects or those unread emails collecting in your inbox. However you make space in your life, you create an opening for something new to enter. New things are around the corner—but there are a few details in the here and now to be taken care of first.

If you do one thing this month:

Make October your month to declutter. Clear out old messages, emails and files on your devices. Finish any major tasks or long-term projects. Focus on the word finish.

Aquarius (January 20 – February 18)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Things are happening—finally. The stuck energy you’ve been bumping up against for the last couple of years is starting to make sense.

Sometimes the universe has its own timing. We don’t always get what we want right away because other things need to unfold first. You’ve been waiting a long time to get some kind of reassurance that things are going in the right direction. You’ve also worked hard to generate this kind of momentum. Things may not exactly be perfect, but they are slowly coming together, and that’s a testament to your dedication.

Keep going, Aquarius. You are climbing a mountain that most people would rather avoid. You’ve signed up for a tough job, but your reward will be that much greater in the end.

If you do one thing this month:

Look back at where you were a year ago. What were your worries, fears and hopes back then? Make note of what has changed, and what you have gratitude for today.

Pisces (February 19 – March 20)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

“Grounded” is your word for the month, Pisces.

In what ways can you keep yourself grounded when life catches you up in a big wave of excitement, or uncertainty? What kinds of practices can you build into your routine on a regular basis to keep you from spiralling into doubt or fear when things don’t work out exactly as planned? What can you do to stay tethered to reality when daydreams and inspirations take you away from your practical needs?

Staying grounded means maintaining a balance without losing the essence of your spirit. It is your anchor in the everyday, and is composed by the actions you take to care for your whole self—physically, emotionally and spiritually. Whatever brings you back to you and helps you feel at home is how you stay grounded. Give yourself more of that this month, Pisces, and see how it helps you to thrive.

If you do one thing this month:

What is one thing you can do each day to connect to your body, your heart and your mind? Develop a routine around these aspects of yourself to stay centered.

Aries (March 21 – April 19)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Who are you, Aries? You might feel like you’re asking yourself that question a lot right now. You are going through a transformation that is pushing you to clarify your sense of power in the world. You want to do more, be more and say more, but you need time to figure out exactly what all that looks like for you.

The coming weeks are crucial for you when it comes to personal growth, confidence and clarity. You might realize you have to close a chapter on something that was once deeply important to you in order to get to the next level in your personal journey. Don’t fear the changes that are on the horizon.

Give yourself the time you need to explore the thoughts and feelings that are coming up for you right now. If ever there was a time to listen to your intuition, this would be it.

If you do one thing this month:

What is your body telling you to do? What advice or wisdom is coming from within? Tune into your gut feelings and let your decisions be guided by your inner knowing.

Taurus (April 20 – May 20)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Contracts and commitments are coming up for review this month, Taurus, and this is not just about contracts that you have in writing. We all have contracts with ourselves, and each other. Relationships, jobs, pets, homes and other responsibilities are all tied up in agreements of some kind.

Be especially mindful about resentments and miscommunications that are building in your relationships, personally and professionally. Someone may try to bypass your boundaries. Misunderstandings can lead to unnecessary confusion for you this month, so it’s best to speak up as soon as an issue arises rather than wait and see if it will go away on its own.

The month of October encourages you to look at what you are committed to, and whether you’re ready to cancel, renew or renegotiate any of your contracts.

If you do one thing this month:

Reflect on the time and energy that goes into your relationships. Are you happy to keep these commitments, or does anything need to be changed?

Gemini (May 21 – June 20)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

You’re not imagining things, Gemini: Life really does feel more intense these days, and that’s because you’re picking up on everyone else’s vibes. Your sense of perception is strong this month. You’re soaking up other people’s energies like it’s going out of style. If your partner or roommate is feeling off, chances are you’ll know before they even say a word.

There are pros and cons to the added sensitivity you’re experiencing right now. The good news is that it makes you an excellent advisor. You’re able to sense the root of an issue and see exactly what needs to happen to fix it.

The con is that you’re more susceptible to feeling drained by everyone else’s drama—and energy vampires may come out of the woodwork to suck up whatever attention they can get. Don’t get so caught up in the intensity of the moment that you forget to take care of yourself, too.

If you do one thing this month:

Take a time out when you need to. Turn off your phone and schedule some much-needed alone time to recharge. The world will still be here when you get back.

Cancer (June 21 – July 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

You’ve got a sense of restlessness that you can’t quite put your finger on, Cancer. It’s like you’re waiting for something to happen—but what?

The answer begins with you: What part of yourself do you want to develop more deeply? Is there an inner artist within that is waiting to be revealed? Or a budding community leader, ready to change the world? Are you wanting to express a certain side of yourself that most people don’t know is there?

These are some questions to get you thinking about what part of yourself is trying to shine right now. There’s an assumption out in the world at large that teaches us that we reach a certain stage in life and stay the same person from there on in. This is your time to prove that belief is wrong.

If you do one thing this month:

What, if anything, holds you back from being who you really want to be in this world? Identify the steps you would need to take to reach a new personal best.

Leo (July 23 – August 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Are you feeling tired or inspired, Leo?

The energy of October gives you an interesting blend of big life lessons coupled with a deep sense of connection to the world around you. Used wisely, these next few weeks could keep you nicely blissed out on spiritual highs and magical ah-a moments.

And the flipside? Well, it depends on how willing you are to have your eyes opened wide. Your sign isn’t always the best at admitting when it’s wrong—but if you can learn to love your imperfections, mistakes and regrets, then the universe will reward you well.

This is your chance to right a wrong, admit defeat and mend burned bridges—and do it all with grace and ease that will inspire others to take a cue from your special brand of kindness.

If you do one thing this month:

Connect to your spiritual side, Leo. Spend time this month deepening your spiritual devotion, or exploring a new path that piques your curiosity.

Virgo (August 23 – September 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Be careful what you put in writing, Virgo. Words can easily get twisted with Mercury, your ruler, stationing retrograde on October 13.

People are not thinking clearly this month and you might not be, either. Emotions are running higher than usual and while you may be positive you have a clear understanding on where someone is coming from, it’s still a good idea to hold off before making assumptions.

Don’t let yourself stay in reactive mode right now. You don’t need to answer every message the moment it comes in, and you don’t need to act so quickly that you don’t take time to think through what you’re saying yes to. Before you fire off that email or text, take a breath and choose your words with care and kindness.

If you do one thing this month:

Be the bigger person. While everyone else around you has a meltdown, decide to be the voice of reason that helps to clear the air.

The rhythms of the zodiac are no accident: When we follow the Sun’s path through the signs month after month, we see that earth always comes after fire. So as we say goodbye to Leo season for another year, we say hello to earthy Virgo.

Why is this significant? The element of fire inspires action. It gets you motivated. Life often gets a little busier when the Sun is in a fire sign like Leo, and you might have felt the days take on a new pace during the past month. But if you spent all your time in a fiery state you’d get burnt out pretty fast. The zodiac helps to promote balance, offering a map to pace yourself against. Now that we are in Virgo season—from August 22 to September 22—the universe is encouraging you to shift your focus towards the here and now. Ask yourself:

What’s at the top of my priority list?
What new idea or project emerged in the last month that I want to move to the top of my to-do list?
What needs to be put to the side, completed or cleared away in order for me to make that happen?

Rather than trying to do it all—which fire energy is often guilty of—earthy signs like Virgo encourage a more practical approach: Cut away the unnecessary pressure, stop procrastinating and get down to your most important business. And if you really have to buckle down and get organized for the coming fall season, you might want to set aside some time to map out your schedule at the start of the month. Mercury is in Virgo until September 5, where it can help you get laser-focused on an important task you can’t afford to lose sight of.

September 9 is another key date to watch: That’s when Mars goes retrograde in Aries until November 13. Mars is a planet of action. It likes to charge ahead, sustain momentum and take control of a situation. Retrogrades are times when planets are on a break, but Mars does not take a vacation very often. (While most planets retrograde annually, Mars goes retrograde every two years.) This particular retrograde is significant because Mars is the ruler of Aries and is strong in this sign, but hasn’t gone retrograde in Aries since 1988. What does this mean? We will all be asked to slow down a little in order to re-evaluate the expectations we put on ourselves. It’s another cue to let go of what’s no longer necessary, and what is no longer serving your highest potential.

Read on for your personal horoscope below to find out what’s in store for your sign in September.

Virgo (August 23 – September 22)

Happy birthday, Virgo!

Why wait until New Year’s to set your resolutions when you can do that right now? You are ready for a fresh start this September, especially when it comes to how you perceive yourself. Who and what do you see yourself as, Virgo? What do you consider to be core to your identity, and what parts of personality no longer reflect who you are?

September is all about reinvention and redefining your life—or coming out of your shell and being the most you you’ve ever been. As they say, you are another year older and wiser. But you’re also stepping into a new level of confidence that is going to help you be your best self yet.

If you do one thing this month:

Identify one characteristic you want to develop within yourself. What is one thing you can do to nurture this character trait this month?

Libra (September 23 – October 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Does life suddenly feel a little busier than usual, Libra? There’s a lot of energy around your social life this month, so don’t be surprised if things are moving fast.

After the lull that has been 2020 thus far, you might now find yourself with more things to do than you can say yes to. Even if some plans are still happening from a distance, like Zoom dates and backyard hangs, it all takes time and energy and you can’t be everywhere at once.

And if you’re the kind of Libran with a strong creative streak, know that the artist within you is going to be hit with a massive surge of inspiration throughout September. This means you might feel like there’s an internal struggle: Do you focus on your social life, or make time for your creative pursuits?

It’s up to you how much of yourself you give this month and what you choose to focus on. You’ve got some good options ahead of you here, Libra, but don’t feel pressured to fit it all into one single month.

If you do one thing this month:

Get intentional with your time. What are three things you want to make happen in September? Make a commitment now to following through on your personal plans.

Scorpio (October 23 – November 21)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

When Mars, your ruler, stations retrograde from September 9 to November 13, you’re going to want to focus on changing things up. Change can come in all forms, but overall this fall is going to signal some deep transformations that are overdue.

This is a time to get out of that job that you know you should have left a long time ago. Or to finally cut loose that toxic friend you keep in your life despite their many missteps. It’s a time to look around at who and what you want to move forward with into 2021, and what you’re ready to say goodbye to. Don’t be afraid of the changes that can happen now: You’ll feel so much better when you’re no longer weighed down.

If you do one thing this month:

Think about where you see yourself in five years. What would need to happen in order for you to achieve that vision? Start mapping out a plan to support that dream.

Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Get ready for the momentum to build, Sagittarius. On Saturday, September 12, your ruler Jupiter stations direct after a five-month retrograde period.

This is good news for Sagittarians who have felt stuck or slowed down since the spring. Of course, this global pandemic hasn’t been helping; still, maybe you were expecting to get more accomplished this year, or make a bigger move in your career and it just hasn’t taken hold yet.

Whatever dreams you were holding onto for 2020, know that a new wave of optimism is coming your way. Where you felt unsure or uninspired before, you will now see possibilities and open roads.

If you do one thing this month:

Revisit a goal you’ve put on hold this year. Consider whether there is a new way to move forward with it this fall.

Capricorn (December 22 – January 19)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

It’s all systems go this month, Capricorn. You’ve been working hard to feel secure in the midst of so much uncertainty this year. September offers a well-deserved reward for the hard work and hustle you’ve been putting out into the world.

First, you’ll get a welcome boost of energy when Jupiter stations direct on Saturday, September 12. Another wave of relief comes along later in the month, when Saturn, your ruler, stations direct on Tuesday, September 29. Both of these heavy-hitting planets are hanging out in your sign this year, bringing both opportunity and challenges.

There are no handouts or easy roads here, but there is payoff and fulfillment if you’re willing to roll up your sleeves and take responsibility for your most cherished dreams.

If you do one thing this month:

Revisit that idea you’ve been keeping on the backburner. It’s time to get to work.

Aquarius (January 20 – February 18)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Clear your head and move forward, Aquarius. You’ve run into some unexpected detours this summer that have had you backtracking over certain plans.

Maybe you thought you would be further ahead by now. Maybe you thought something would be easier. Maybe you thought you would be in a different place in your life. But, you know what? You’re exactly where you need to be, even if the terrain looks a little different than you anticipated.

The universe has given you some unique lessons and perspectives this summer that will become handy tools for you as we move into the fall season. So don’t let go of what you’ve got, and don’t give up now.

If you do one thing this month:

Take aim, Aquarius. Send that resume, contact that agent or submit that pitch. Whatever idea is brewing, it’s time to act on it.

Pisces (February 19 – March 20)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

“Settled” is a good word for you to meditate on this month, Pisces. In what ways are you getting settled in September? Or, where do you want to feel more settled? The stars are encouraging you to let yourself put down roots right now.

Those roots may be physical, such as settling into a new space, or into an old one that you are revamping. Or, those roots can be symbolic as you dig into a new spiritual path, creative project or body of research. Whatever it is, this is a time to allow yourself to become quietly immersed in something that feels like home to you.

If you do one thing this month:

Turn off the distractions and let yourself get comfortable in whatever calls to you.

Aries (March 21 – April 19)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

September marks a turning point for you, Aries. With Mars, your ruler, stationing retrograde, it’s important to pay attention. You’re not one to slow down very often, but if you’ve been needing a timeout from something or someone, this retrograde is the time to take it.

But Mars retrograde isn’t only about self-care and relaxation. This one is part of a bigger plan for you, Aries, a plan that is connected to a larger chapter in your life. Changes that you started to make throughout the summer will remain major themes this fall. Expect to gain more clarity in regards to your future direction, identity and personal priorities. The universe is asking you to step off to the sidelines momentarily so that you can gather your thoughts, conserve your energy and make a strategic move.

If you do one thing this month:

Stop rushing from one thing to the next. While it’s your tendency to take on more than is humanly possible, September is a time to have a lighter load and a clearer head.

Taurus (April 20 – May 20)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Go get it, Taurus. You are not satisfied with the status quo this month and are ready to push yourself to new heights.

The stars are on your side when it comes to thinking big and making moves in the world. It’s a great time to bring attention to your skills, creativity and career. Don’t be shy about putting yourself out there, promoting your work and showing what you’re capable of.

There’s a surge of confidence and inspiration coming your way. Use it wisely and let yourself get noticed.

If you do one thing this month:

Focus on your next big leap. Reach out to a mentor or someone who inspires you and talk to them about what it might take to get to the next level.

Gemini (May 21 – June 20)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

This month the skies are helping you to work smarter, not harder, Gemini.

Your focus turns to your daily routines and regimens, especially when it comes to your health and productivity. This isn’t about pushing yourself to the brink of burnout or taking on every little thing there is to do. Instead, it’s an opportunity to overhaul your relationship to time.

This month it’s time to nurture your potential without diluting your focus on things that don’t really matter to you. Get ready to make new habits or break some old ones. You don’t have to hold onto your old ways of doing things anymore, especially if something has become inefficient or inconvenient.

If you do one thing this month:

Think of one thing you always wish you had more time for. Review your schedule and look at what you would have to change in order to make space for what’s important.

Cancer (June 21 – July 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Don’t let anyone rush you into something you’re not ready for, Cancer. Your intuition is kicking in strong this month and it’s telling you to pace yourself. Listen to it. For you, September is a time to deliberate and reflect. If your gut is telling you to hold off on a big decision, or to put off from making a plan—no matter how big or small—stay patient.

It’s not always easy to say no when you’re feeling forced or pressured into taking a certain direction or doing something before you’re ready, but you’ll thank yourself for taking things slow this month. Make agreements and arrangements when you are ready to do so. If someone really values your time and energy, then they will understand it’s worth the wait.

If you do one thing this month:

Reflect on a time when you did not assert your boundaries. Take note of what you learned from that experience and how you can apply that knowledge moving forward.

Leo (July 23 – August 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

You’ve got money on your mind this month, Leo. Don’t be afraid to look at that bank account or go over those bills that have been piling up. The skies are helping you to secure your foundation, organize any debts, and clear away confusion or frustration around your finances.

You like to think big and sometimes that gets reflected in your money story. September offers you an opportunity to write a different chapter than you usually do when it comes to your cash flow. Revisit your budget or rethink your relationship to money. Is it happy and healthy, or stuck in a rut? Whatever it is, think about how you can improve it.

If you do one thing this month:

Do you need to make more money, save more money or spend more money? Identify your current financial goal and then take the first step to work towards it.

While we might not be sticking to our typical summer plans this year, it doesn’t mean there’s no fun to be had. The Sun is in Leo until August 22, encouraging you to find inspiration in your everyday life. And on Tuesday, August 4, Mercury enters Leo, too. The planet of communication and ideas will be in Leo’s gregarious realm until August 19.

Think of how you can add some creative flair to your routines right now—something as simple as adding an extra pop of colour to your wardrobe can be a start. Or check out an online art class to get your imagination flowing—particularly around the new moon in Leo on August 18, which is a great time to pick up a new creative project or hobby.

And definitely make time to connect with your circle. If Leo season teaches us anything, it’s the value of friendships. Find something to celebrate together this month: Add up all of those quarantine birthdays that have passed by and have a big online bash, or organize a reunion with some long-lost friends you’ve fallen out of touch with.

When Mercury enters earthy Virgo on August 19, with the Sun following suit on August 22, the energy will help you to shift towards some lingering items on your to-do list. Save your biggest chores and tasks for the later part of August when all that can-do Virgo attitude will help you tackle any domestic or work-related business in no time. It’s a great opportunity to clear out your junk drawers and make space in your closets, or organize your inbox. Think of it as a time to make room for fall season that’s just around the corner.

Read on for your personal horoscope below.

Leo (July 23 – August 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Happy birthday, Leo! Welcome to your new year.

There is a lot of energy around you this month and you might feel ready to take on the world these days. And the feeling is mutual. Birthdays aside, August is a powerful time for you to take a big, bold step in a new direction.

Say yes to new opportunities if they are coming your way, and seek them out if they aren’t. Get strategic about the impressions you want to make in the year ahead when it comes to your personal style, brand and voice.

The Leo new moon on August 18 is an important date for you. It gives you an opportunity to plant a new seed in your life when it comes to your creativity, self-expression and self-esteem. Set your sights on something big this year and figure out what it will take to make it happen.

If you do one thing this month:

Celebrate yourself, Leo. Take the time this month to work through all you’ve accomplished in the last year, big and small. Give yourself a gift of appreciation to honour the year that was, and to welcome the year that will be.

Virgo (August 23 – September 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

You’re happy to take your time this month, Virgo, and that’s what the stars want you to do. For you, August is all about going with the flow, letting your imagination wander, and getting more in touch with what really matters to you.

Which isn’t to say you can’t still be productive—it’s just that you’re working on yourself to find new ways to have more of what you want, and less of what you don’t. What you thought was interesting or important a couple of years ago is losing its shine. You’re in search of deeper purpose and a stronger sense of fulfillment right now.

And this month, the universe is trying to show you that the way to finding that purpose starts by letting yourself be more at ease in your mind and body.

If you do one thing this month:

Break up your usual routine. Give yourself permission to do something you don’t normally “allow” yourself to do during the week, like taking an extra break. Allow for more spontaneity in your day.

Libra (September 23 – October 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

It’s not your responsibility to take on the weight of the world, Libra. But this month, you might feel like you’re a sponge that’s soaking up everyone else’s problems as though they are your own.

Throughout August, the stars suggest that the best way you can lead is to start by looking at where your thoughts and energy go all day. It’s time to hit the reset button when it comes to self-care and energetic boundaries—especially online. It doesn’t mean you have to tune out altogether—by all means stay informed —but don’t forget that you also need to tend to your own heart, too.

Don’t feel guilty about taking care of yourself, even if it means taking a break from the state of the world once in a while.

If you do one thing this month:

Curate a different social media feed for yourself. Think about what you want to see more often, and who you want to be influenced by.

Scorpio (October 23 – November 21)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Balance? What balance? You don’t like to do things halfway, Scorpio: Once you’re into something, you like to go deep.

But something new has caught your attention, creating a push and pull in your life. Do you stick with what’s familiar, or dare to let yourself get distracted to explore a new horizon? There’s only one of you to go around, and for someone who likes to be all-in, you like to take your time in deciding what to commit to.

Don’t be afraid to walk away from what’s familiar if it’s no longer feeling like it fits who you are. This summer is setting you off on a fresh cycle where you’re being encouraged to change things up and close an old chapter. Let go of whatever is holding you back from diving into something that lights up your passion and gets you excited for more.

If you do one thing this month:

Let go of something that is taking up unnecessary time or space in your life. It can be a physical object, or a commitment that you no longer need to uphold. Whatever it is, release it so that something new can take its place.

Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Practice patience this month, Sagittarius. Your circle is looking to you for guidance and wisdom, and it’s easy to see why: You are often the voice of reason, and you’ve been doing your homework for a long time now. You have a lot to teach and share.

But not everyone catches on as quickly as you do, and this month you might find yourself going around in circles when it comes to some important conversations. Repeat yourself if you need to. Be the patient leader others need right now. Find new, creative ways to get your points across if you’re sharing big ideas or concepts. Challenge yourself to have fun with it, even if you’re ready to move on to a new topic of conversation.

If you do one thing this month:

Ask more questions in your conversations. Allow yourself to go even deeper with your social circle. Challenge yourself to understand how others have shaped their viewpoints and identities.

Capricorn (December 22 – January 19)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

You feel like you’re ready to go on auto-pilot this month, Capricorn. Will you let yourself take the break you’re craving?

The stars certainly support any decisions you make in regards to kicking back and relaxing right now. You know you need some breathing room during what has already been an eventful year, you’ll appreciate having the extra headspace to think about what’s next for you once the fall season rolls around.

There are new ideas and opportunities percolating beneath your surfaces. Give them some time to cook this month by taking a breather where you can. You’ll appreciate yourself for it once September arrives.

If you do one thing this month:

Set some time aside for yourself each morning after you wake up, or just before bed, to connect with your mind and body. Breathe, do some journalling, and leave your phone off for maximum effect.

Aquarius (January 20 – February 18)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

The full moon in Aquarius on Monday, August 3 marks your halfway point of the year so far. This means it’s a productive time to review any goals you set around your birthday and see where you’re at so far.

2020 hasn’t gone at all as planned, but that doesn’t mean you have to scrap everything—though it may mean some of your intentions have shifted over the last several months. Don’t be stubborn in thinking you need to stick to your original plan if it’s no longer suitable. If anyone can adapt it’s you, Aquarius, and this month offers some innovative new ideas that can help you stay on track or pivot if you need to.

On Sunday, August 15, Uranus, your ruler, stations retrograde. This will also bring an opportunity to look at something from a new angle. It’s a great time to revisit some old ideas that have been waiting on the backburner for your attention. Take full advantage of the inspiration that’s coming your way.

If you do one thing this month:

Review your old notes from past brainstorming sessions and see what kind of treasures are waiting for you to explore.

Pisces (February 19 – March 20)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

You might be feeling a bit torn this month, Pisces. You feel like you’re in a world where you’re not always sure if you fit in, or if you can really be yourself at all. But at the same time, you want to be of service. You want to do something useful, powerful and important—without compromising your true spirit.

No matter how hard it might be sometimes to feel like the odd one out, this astrology of August suggests that you are about to get a key insight that will help you to see exactly how your unique personality is just what is needed these days.

This month, allow yourself to be as real as possible. To speak from the heart whenever you can. To be honest, even when it’s not easy. And to trust that when you do the things you love the most, you are actually serving the world in the best possible way.

If you do one thing this month:

Do one thing for yourself every day this month that you wouldn’t normally do.

Aries (March 21 – April 19)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

A big risk you’ve taken this year is starting to pay off. You’ve given yourself the time and space to move ahead with a personal priority.

Now begins the real work of staying committed to what you’ve set out to do. In the past, there have been times you denied yourself what you wanted most. You’re at a turning point now where it’s time to stop trying to be all things to all people, Aries.

Just because you can do a lot doesn’t mean you need to say yes to everything that comes your way. Be careful this month about taking on more than you planned to. This is your time to sink deep into a project that means a lot to you, and you deserve to take the time you need to put your all into your goals.

If you do one thing this month:

Write down your top three priorities and ask yourself what you can do each day to stay focused on those key goals.

Taurus (April 20 – May 20)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

They say home is where the heart is, which could very well become your motto for the month, Taurus. You are feeling particularly connected to your roots these days and you’re craving more time to focus on the people in your life who make you feel at home.

For Taureans who have been thinking of starting or growing a family of their own, August is earmarked as a time to initiate conversations around what that might look like for you. The pull toward exploring and expanding your experience of family is strong right now.

You’re also called to put love and attention into your home space right now. If you’ve been dying to redecorate, tackle a DIY home reno project, or do some late-summer gardening, now is the time. Make your home the sanctuary you want it to be.

If you do one thing this month:

Reach out to someone you consider family and tell them how much your relationship with them means to you.

Gemini (May 21 – June 20)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

You feel unstoppable these days, Gemini. Your mind is on fire with ideas. Problems you were trying to work through in the spring or summer are now feeling much easier to sort through.

And if anyone is looking for advice? You have all the answers, and friends and colleagues will want to hear your take. But remember that just because you have clarity on a situation doesn’t mean that everyone around is ready to take the good advice you’re dishing out. All you can do is offer an idea or opinion, but you can’t force anyone to do something they’re not prepared for yet. So be generous with your time, but gentle with those you’re trying to help.

Confidence is on your side this month, so use your time wisely when it comes to your own projects. You’ll get so much further ahead if you focus on your own plans rather than trying to solve everyone else’s problems instead.

If you do one thing this month:

You really are unstoppable right now. Pick one thing you’ve been wanting to do this year to advance your career or creative life and set aside time each week to work towards that goal.

Cancer (June 21 – July 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Comfort and ease are your words of the month, Cancer. You are craving joy and flow in all that you do and want to steer clear of any unnecessary drama right now.

You’re tired of people who make things more complicated than they need to be. Focus on spending time with the people in your life who are easy to hang out with. Keep plans minimal and simple. Avoid micro-managers and high-maintenance relationships as best you can right now.

The goal this month is to feel restored and relaxed. Don’t pressure yourself to want more than that. For you, August is about being as chill as possible. When September rolls around, you’ll have opportunities to ramp up your schedule and take on bigger plans—and personalities. But for now, this is your time to prioritize the peace and solitude you’re seeking.

If you do one thing this month:

Give your mind a rest. Turn off notifications or remove any distracting apps from your phone.

Saturn, ruler of time, boundaries and restrictions, has been retrograde since early May, backtracking through airy Aquarius. On July 1, the planet will slide into Capricorn, where it will stay until December 17. After that, Saturn won’t return to Capricorn until 2047.

It’s significant that the start of July marks Saturn’s final visit in Capricorn for some time to come. When planets retrograde, they offer an opportunity to take another look at a specific area of your life. Think of a retrograde as a time to get something right the second time around. The universe is giving you another chance, but those lessons don’t always come easily—retrogrades have a way of pushing you to do the work you’ve been putting off, as they tend to highlight the areas of your life that need the most TLC.

The pandemic has pushed a lot of us to shift priorities and look at what is really important—and get clear about what we can really rely on. Saturn’s final tour through Capricorn asks you to look at the strength of your foundation, and gives you an opportunity to create more security and stability as we continue to move through uncertain times.

On July 5, there’s a full moon and lunar eclipse in Capricorn, a closing chapter in the Cancer-Capricorn eclipse series that began in 2018. This eclipse series represents the systems in power and your roles within them. Core values are going up against monetary gains, self-care is facing off against enduring productivity. You might have found yourself making changes to your own work-life balance in the last two years, and questioning your ambitions and beliefs, especially if they have overshadowed your personal sense of fulfillment.

And thanks to Mars, there is plenty of fresh energy to go around when it comes to goal-setting, determination and renewed enthusiasm. Mars started a brand new cycle on June 29 when it left dreamy Pisces and entered Aries, its home base. Mars in Aries brings a lot of energy—you might not always know what to do with yourself if you’re sensitive to this transit. It’s a great time to channel excess energy into something meaningful to you. Aries is a pioneer and champion for change. Make your efforts count.

If you’ve been feeling unclear and unsure of yourself lately and July’s astrology is making you tired just reading about it, Mercury retrograde may be getting to you: The messenger planet went retrograde on June 18, but stations direct on July 12, bringing more clarity to everyday life.

Read on for your personal horoscope below.

Cancer (June 21 – July 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Fresh courage is stirring within you this month, Cancer. You’ve been re-evaluating your priorities and you’re starting to see what you need to protect for yourself—be it time, integrity, autonomy or self-worth. Something is lighting a fire within you, giving you the confidence to vocalize your values and ask for what it is you need.

The full moon and lunar eclipse in Capricorn on Sunday, July 5 triggers an important detail in your current story. Think back to what started to unfold for you in 2018 when this eclipse series began and how far you have come since then.

The next six months will reveal more of where these changes are taking you, so use this time with clarity and intention. This has been a major period of growing up for you and payoff is around the corner.

If you do one thing this month:

Where do you always short-change yourself, Cancer? Look at one area in your life where you are compromising in a way that makes you feel undervalued. Start saying no to things that keep you playing small.

Leo (July 23 – August 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

You’re feeling reflective and quiet these days, Leo. July is a time for you to focus on deeper connections with your friends and family—even if those connections are still happening by distance.

Cut back on the Zoom parties and hold off on signing up another online workshop if you’re feeling technologically burned out. You’re craving slower days and time offline this month. While some parts of the world might be getting busier with their re-opening plans, you’re feeling quite comfortable staying in your little corner of the world. Solo time and deep, one-on-one conversations with old friends are what your soul is craving right now.

Don’t pressure yourself to rush back into anything just yet. This is your time to take it slow.

If you do one thing this month:

Let life be calm. Leave space on your schedule for pure quiet time without any distractions: Turn off your phone and go for a long walk, read a book or pull out a sketch pad and doodle.

Virgo (August 23 – September 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Who is in your life and why, Virgo? This spring’s Venus retrograde, from May 13 to June 25, has had you reassessing your personal and professional relationships.

This time might have opened your eyes to show who’s really got your back and who you really want to have in your corner. You might be realizing that your social circle is due for some changeups as you’re starting to see that your values and expectations have grown over time. What was important to you last year might not mean so much now—and that’s OK. You are meant to evolve, and so are your relationships. Sometimes, as values change, friendships and romances do, too.

This month is going to help you see how you can integrate the new awareness you’ve attained in recent months. Your deepest bonds are about to get even closer, and the relationships you’ve outgrown can make a graceful, mature exit.

If you do one thing this month:

Focus on those who are there for you, Virgo. Ask yourself: What can I do to show my favourite people how much I care about them?

Libra (September 23 – October 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)

July is your time to get behind the scenes of an important plan or project and make some magic happen. There’s an area of your life that is feeling old, stale and irrelevant to who you are now, and this is the time to make the necessary tweaks in order to get everything up to date.

Whether you need to revamp your website, overhaul your social media profiles or pivot in your career, July is all about change, change, change. Especially if you feel like the momentum in your life is stalling. Tackle whatever is feeling stuck by saying goodbye to something that represents the old you and making way for the new. Think of this time as a launching pad to a fresh chapter that’s waiting for you once fall rolls around. Make space now for something new to come along later.

If you do one thing this month:

What would you like to make progress with by the end of the year? Choose one thing you want to see happen in 2020 and start making a list of things you would need to do to make that happen.

Scorpio (October 23 – November 21)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

This year has kept you in a bit of a funk, Scorpio, but July brings some sweet relief when Mars, your ruler, enters Aries. This is going to help you feel like you are getting back into your element. Where your energy may have ebbed and flowed before, now you can start to feel clearer and more consistent.

Things that felt like they were slipping out of your control throughout the spring will now seem a lot less intimidating, and that looming sense of overwhelm is starting to dissipate. And as the fog begins to lift this July, you can start to think about what you need, and what you’re ready for next. Let this fresh energy breathe some new life into your psyche and your routine, and start to get back to feeling like your regular self.

If you do one thing this month:

Do some journalling about what you were doing in early 2019: Something that was important to you then is coming up for review and you may realize soon it’s time to expand, let go or transition into a new direction.

Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

You are never one to back down from the truth, Sagittarius, and July is encouraging you to expand your mind more than ever before. You are being called to learn something that is going to help you along your future path. The knowledge you can acquire this month is not just for your own benefit: You are here to be a teacher for your friends, colleagues and community at large.

What is it that you need to learn more about right now? What is that you can’t stop thinking about? What do you want to be able to speak about with authority, confidence and intelligence?

Now is the time to honour your thirst for truth and wisdom. Don’t feel guilty about taking the time you need to follow this path to deeper learning.

If you do one thing this month:

Take your quest for knowledge seriously. Get off Google and sign up for a workshop or course, or stock up on those most-read books that are on your wish list.

Capricorn (December 22 – January 19)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Do you have any unfinished business to take care of this year, Capricorn?

Is there a career issue that keeps haunting you?

Is something keeping your finances or your work stuck at a plateau you can’t seem to break?

Get ready for a final chance to fix something that has kept you from moving forward—but be prepared to do the work when it shows up. Saturn, your ruler, is giving you another chance to work through a block you keep facing.

Just know that you’re going to have to get out of your comfort zone in order to grow beyond it. The current Saturn retrograde is helping you to get clearer about the patterns that you’ll need to break if you want to get to the next level. It might not be easy, but the change will be worth it.

If you do one thing this month:

Identify one habit or pattern you have with work or money that has you going around in circles. Come up with one thing you can do this month to begin to break that cycle.

Aquarius (January 20 – February 18)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

You’ve been feeling a lot of pressure lately that has made you doubt yourself and questioned your abilities, Aquarius. Thankfully, that pressure starts to ease in July and you’ll be given a clearer view of the actual progress you’re making this year.

Even though it might not feel like you’re gaining the momentum you want right now, things are taking shape. Just because you can’t always see progress doesn’t mean nothing is happening. The universe is teaching you to trust in the process.

Part of the reason why your own self-perception is off is because you need a break. You’ve been putting in a lot of time and energy to stay the course: Don’t lose sight of that. Cut yourself some slack this month and ease up on the expectations you’re holding yourself to right now, mentally and physically.

If you do one thing this month:

Clear your head. Set aside some time each morning to journal for twenty minutes, or take a walk outside before you start your day.

Pisces (February 19 – March 20)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

How do you value your creative self, Pisces? You are the poet of the zodiac, here to weave beautiful ideas together in dreamy new ways. But you have trouble connecting with your creative side sometimes. Your compassion can make you feel guilty for taking time to focus on your own interests. And this year you’ve struggled even to figure out how to support your friends and community during such challenging times.

The recent Venus retrograde, which lasted from May 13 to June 25, may have brought up a deeper longing for you to get back into your own personal pursuits. You might be heading into July with inspiration high on your priority list, and now is the time to integrate ways in which you want to make more space in your life for your inner artist to come through.

The skies are indicating that something is sucking up a little more energy than is necessary, and you can reclaim that time back for yourself.

If you do one thing this month:

Choose one of your favourite artists or icons and do some research into their creative processes. Learn how they follow their passions, and try to apply something similar to your own life.

Aries (March 21 – April 19)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Your energy has been up and down for months now. Sometimes you’ve been feeling all the feelings, and other times you’ve been so frazzled that you haven’t had a chance to stop and reflect on it all. The push and pull cycle you’ve been moving through since the spring is finally winding down, Aries—and not a moment too soon for you. On June 29, Mars, your ruler, comes home to your sign and stays there until early 2021.

This is a time to activate your superpowers, get back to yourself and begin a new chapter. Your priorities have become a lot clearer over the past couple of years, and the work you’ve put into yourself in that time is going to play a major role in the steps you take next.

Get ready for a new set of adventures – just don’t forget you’re the one who gets to decide where those adventures might lead.

If you do one thing this month:

Think of one thing you want to make happen over the next five years. Write down the steps you would need to take to make that dream a reality and choose one step you can work towards this month.

Taurus (April 20 – May 20)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

You are inspired to find more ways to use your voice and lend your energy and talents to the things that matter most to you. June brought some eye-opening experiences for you that have fundamentally shifted your perspective. Now, you are called to learn more, do more and be more—and the stars are behind you, Taurus. You have so much in you and the world is ready for your brand of guidance, wisdom, and advice.

Don’t feel you need to fit someone else’s idea of what personal expression has to be, or to move at a breakneck pace you’re not ready for. Follow what’s calling you. Those ideas and inspirations that have made their way into your mind and heart are there for a reason. They deserve your attention, and it’s time to find out why.

If you do one thing this month:

Set aside some time to brainstorm, create or craft a vision. Write it down in a journal or create a Pinterest board that reflects the direction you’re ready to go in.

Gemini (May 21 – June 20)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

July asks you to scale back on the expectations you place on yourself, Gemini. This month, you’re prone to putting too much pressure on yourself to be everything to everyone.

Boundaries can get blurred and you might end up feeling like some friends, clients or colleagues are taking advantage of your generous nature. It’s one thing to be flexible and helpful, but it’s another to be taken advantage of altogether. This month, the stars are encouraging you to look deeply at where some of your boundaries are getting crossed.

It’s OK to draw new lines if you don’t have anything more to give, or to remind someone of a boundary they have crossed. You will feel so much better once you clear the air, and those who support you will appreciate your honesty.

If you do one thing this month:

Learn about boundary work. Do some research into what it means to set boundaries, and how to honour and recognize boundaries within yourself and others.

Sometimes, life requires patience. And often, our greatest breakthroughs come when we wait, pause and reflect.

June is not a time to force yourself to power through your days. It’s a time of going inward and appreciating quieter moments. With six planets in retrograde this month, June is a time of personal transformation, re-evaluation and rejuvenation. They say change starts from within, and that holds strong right now.

Venus’s retrograde period began on May 13 in the sign of Gemini, signalling a time to review your needs and desires. Values can change when Venus is retrograde, as can creative processes. She stations direct on June 25, helping you to move forward with newfound understandings of yourself and others.

Mercury stations retrograde mid-month on June 18 in the sign of Cancer. Watch out for relationships that are operating with unclear expectations, as this Mercury retrograde period will highlight resentment and confusion in personal dealings—especially ones that feel uneven and unreciprocated.

Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto all went retrograde earlier this spring, and Neptune will follow suit on June 23. These outer planets are slower-moving celestial bodies with longer retrograde periods that will last throughout the summer. Their energies have a more subtle effect on us personally and collectively, bringing into question our sense of place in the world.

In short, this month is a time to explore the inner work you feel called to do in order to bring your best self forward in service of something greater.

Read on for your personal horoscope below.

Gemini (May 21 – June 20)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Be careful not to make commitments you’re not sure you can keep right now, Gemini—especially if you are not sure you’re not willing to keep them even.

Clarity can feel elusive when it comes to what you want or expect from yourself, as well what others expect from you. June’s Mercury retrograde can help you better understand yourself, and where you need to step up or stand out.

If you have trouble keeping promises or have a tendency to flake out on plans, expect June to bring some reality checks around how this impacts those who depend on you. If you find yourself opposite of that and you have trouble saying no and tend to overextend yourself, then the universe is getting ready to make you look long and hard at whether that’s helping or hindering you.

Either way, clarity is on the horizon. Don’t let life pull you along in different directions without any clear focus. The energy of June is here to help get your priorities in place.

If you do one thing this month:

Ask: What do you consistently say yes to that you know is not good for you, right for you or possible for you to commit to? Allow yourself to say no where it feels necessary.

Cancer (June 21 – July 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

How is your foundation changing, Cancer? With so much change in the world right now, you may be wondering if, or how, you can make a bigger transformation in 2020.

You are looking for satisfaction on a deeper level right now. Your old ideas of fulfillment may need to be updated as you find yourself longing for a different challenge or a new goal to set your sights on.

Here’s the thing: You have permission to dream. Be careful about putting limitations around yourself as you feel a pull towards new horizons that may not be fully definable just yet. The dreams you are incubating this month are ones that you can carry forward. Let them grow strong and they will guide you towards the path you are seeking.

If you do one thing this month:

What kind of foundation do you want to build for yourself? Think of one thing you would need to do this summer to start working towards a new goal.

Leo (July 23 – August 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Be careful about mixed messages early in the month. Reading too deeply between the lines of communication can lead to the wrong conclusions, so be mindful in how you’re connecting with your personal and professional networks right now.

Technology is going to be both a friend and foe this month: Email threads and hasty comments can easily be distorted and blown out of proportion right now. Aim to be a neutral ally and open listener rather than adding fuel to the fire. If something sounds confusing or hurtful, move the conversation offline and clear the air right away.

If you’re able to stay out of the emotional fray that everyone around you seems to be caught up in this month, you have a prime opportunity to bring forward some killer ideas and deeper bonds with those around you.

If you do one thing this month:

Set a goal for June to be drama-free, Leo. Emotions can run high and overreactions can be common right now, so give yourself some time to think before you hit “reply” too soon.

Virgo (August 23 – September 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Who are you, Virgo? Do you even recognize yourself in the mirror these days? If you feel a bit out of sorts this month, don’t worry: You are under the influence of some big, cosmic shifts that are helping you to re-frame your sense of identity and your assumptions about your place in this world.

You might feel confused one moment and then completely at peace the next. You are outgrowing some of your old insecurities, comfort zones and assumptions about the world. Certain ideals you once held dear are not what you thought they were.

Yes, there are growing pains these days, but these lessons don’t come without reward. The prize is that you will be able to come into a better understanding of who you are, rather than living up to old expectations, or sticking to a plan that someone else decided for you long ago. Get ready to build a bigger dream and a better relationship with yourself.

If you do one thing this month:

Ask yourself: What do you really want? Don’t feel you need to justify it, or have all the details worked out on whether or not it’s even possible. Just take a minute to write down what it is you long for these days and allow yourself to accept your desires.

Libra (September 23 – October 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Don’t overthink it: Your gut feelings are strong right now and your intuition is trying to get your attention—but is your head clear enough to get the message?

It’s never a bad thing to be practical and weigh your options, but over-analyzing every last detail can prevent you from moving forward at all sometimes. Remember that spontaneity and inspiration are important factors in decision-making, too.

June offers you a few questions to work with:

What makes you hesitate?
What are the reasons you seek out other people’s advice?
When do you catch yourself looking for outside validation?
How much value do you place on your own perspectives versus outside opinions—especially when it comes to making your own decisions?

What the stars suggest for you this month is to understand your fears when it comes to taking more authority in your own life. It’s time to trust yourself at a much deeper level.

If you do one thing this month:

Go ahead and make that decision you’ve been putting off. Whether you need to make a commitment, try something new or break away from the past, it’s time to listen to your instinct.

Scorpio (October 23 – November 21)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

You’re not one to be so easily thrown off, but this month feels a bit different. You’re feeling tender this month, Scorpio. The usual tough exterior you carry has been worn down a bit. You might find yourself more distracted right now. You’re feeling sensitive and raw, and in need of some TLC. Don’t be afraid to drop your guard and admit that sometimes, you just need a break.

This spring season has had you craving more restorative time, with slower moments where you can go deep within yourself and recalibrate. You’ve been pushing yourself so hard the past few years that you’ve forgotten how to recognize your own needs and rhythms sometimes. The universe says that June is a time to go gentle with yourself. Make an extra effort to connect with your closest friends and most trusted confidantes—the ones you trust most to take care of your gentle heart.

If you do one thing this month:

Go for comfort. Re-watch your favourite childhood movie or treat yourself to something that takes you back to a special time and place.

Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

June has a transformational quality to it for you. Be open to where change is taking place in your life, and where you are craving fresh energy.

The tough thing about change is that we always want to control what it looks like, how it happens and how it turns out in the end. But there’s something bigger going on behind the scenes for you this year that is leading to a deeper reveal of your life’s next major chapter.

So be willing to surrender this month, too. If something is telling you that things can no longer be as they were, let it go as best you can. Trust in yourself in determining what’s worth fighting for, and what you know is coming to a natural conclusion. The great thing about you, Sagittarius, is that you are naturally wired to see the bigger picture. You have so many options available to you, so trust that whatever changes take place are just one part of a great journey.

If you do one thing this month:

Reflect on the concept of surrender and determine how you can practice it in your day to day life.

Capricorn (December 22 – January 19)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Last month, you started to re-evaluate your commitments, routines and obligations. You started to look at whether it always serves you to be the one who pushes through no matter what—even when an agreement has passed its expiration date.

These are not overnight changes you are making. There are no shortcuts for you, no life hacks—you are looking to change the structure of who you are and what you are ready to make happen in this world.

This year you have had bold stirrings of courage and rebellion that have given you glimpses of greater possibility. You are craving something different and you’re ready to move into unexpected territory. You just need a little more time to get clear on what that is. And this month, the stars encourage you to take that time to figure it out. Continue to unwind out of your old habits. Continue to let go of the things that won’t get you any closer to where you really want to be.

If you do one thing this month:

Connect to the theme of patience: Where do you need practice patience, and where can you push things a little further, faster?

Aquarius (January 20 – February 18)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

The month of June encourages you to look back at how far you’ve come, what you’ve learned, and how you’ve changed. You have a rare opportunity to look back at your former self and look ahead to your future self simultaneously, and gain some key insights into who you are becoming.

What are you hoping to see when you cast those reflections? What will the memories of the past remind you of, and what will you learn today from the person you will be tomorrow?

What would like to say to your younger self right now, Aquarius?

You are reaching a turning point within yourself—a maturation process where you are starting to appreciate the person you have grown into, as well as the ways you are still evolving.

If you do one thing this month:

Write a letter to your younger self with an update on how life is shaping up so far. Ask the younger you a question about something you’re struggling with and allow an answer to arise.

Pisces (February 19 – March 20)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Are the practicalities of life weighing you down, Pisces?

You might want to escape reality right now, but be careful not to throw all your responsibilities to the wayside. Those big dreams and ideals you hold so dear can start to become reality if you start dealing with the parts of your life that feel chaotic, disorganized or confused. Don’t avoid tending to the shakier areas of your life any longer: Those gaps are exacerbating the delays you’re experiencing in getting what you want.

The good news is that the stars are trying to help you get these details in order so that your path can become clearer. The bad news is that you might need to muster some motivation to deal with the nuts and bolts of your plans right now—but the sooner you look those responsibilities in the eye, the sooner you can take power over them.

If you do one thing this month:

Make time in your schedule to get around to those dreaded tasks you’ve been putting off. If it helps, create a reward system for tackling the tough stuff.

Aries (March 21 – April 19)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

You are deep into your feelings as June begins. Your senses are heightened and your compassion for yourself and others is running high all month.

It’s up to you on which direction June’s emotional highs and lows take you, Aries. Use your heart as an arrow that can point you toward the answers you seek and the solutions you need. Sometimes the sticking points that continue to arise in our personal or professional lives are the exact things we need to be working on.

Where do you feel frustrated, stuck or resentful? Where are you giving more than you’re getting? You may realize you can’t help everyone, no matter how much great advice you give. Not everyone is ready for your wisdom, Aries, and it may be time for you to channel your energy into new people and projects—ones that can nourish you just as much as you nourish others.

If you do one thing this month:

Review your personal and professional boundaries. Look at where it’s time to make a change, and note the steps required to create better balance for yourself.

Taurus (April 20 – May 20)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Your relationships can reach deeper levels of intimacy, trust and awareness right now. It might not always feel easy, but people need your authenticity, wisdom and sensitivity. Trust when you allow your heart to open, it inspires others to do the same.

June encourages you to reach new levels of self-expression, vulnerability and open communication. Does that scare you? If so, remember that you can begin this work from within by engaging in a more open dialogue with yourself:

What is it that you really need to honour right now?
What can no longer be ignored, put off or pushed away?

Go ahead and speak your truth, Taurus. This is not a time to hold back or stifle what’s in your heart.

If you do one thing this month:

Identify one way you can develop more closeness in your personal relationships and start sharing that energy in your interactions. It may come through something you want to communicate, a story you need to share or a desire that you are ready to fulfill.

Before 2020 even began, there were high expectations that this would be a game-changing year.

The powerful Saturn-Pluto conjunction on January 12 was expected to bring a paradigm shift within our personal and collective realities. Meeting up in the sign of Capricorn, these two heavy-hitting planets were putting us on notice that the structures, routines and ways we work were coming up for re-evaluation. Astrologers around the world reflected on what this could mean. Economic downturns, recessions and environmental concerns were common theories surrounding changes to expect in 2020. While those are heavy themes, the silver lining was that this year would also bring deep, personal transformation and important awakenings on an individual and collective level.

Astrology helps us to see the energy of something, the potential of it—but not necessarily how it will show up, or what it will look like when it arrives. Many were hopeful about the astrology of 2020, while being aware it would bring challenges, but who could have expected that the year would unfold the way it has so far?

Things may look and feel different from how you thought your year would be going right now. It’s not a time to rush yourself to get back to business as usual; instead, the skies encourage you to go inward, review and re-evaluate your path and plans moving forward.

Saturn, Venus and Jupiter station retrograde this month: Saturn on May 11 in Aquarius; Venus on May 13 in Gemini; and Jupiter on May 14 in Capricorn. Go-getter Mars is another planet to watch this month. It enters watery Pisces on May 13, which will impact your energy levels and call for patience, compassion, and slower approaches.

The energy of May also asks you to look at what you have learned from 2020 so far:

What have you realized you can live without?
What are you willing to give up?
Where can you make do?
How have your values shifted?

Your horoscope for May offers some guidance on how to stay grounded, build your resilience and connect to your higher self as you move forward.

Read on for your personal horoscope to learn more.

Taurus (April 20 – May 20)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

This is the month to fall in love with yourself, Taurus. On May 13, Venus, your ruler, stations retrograde in Gemini, taking you on a six-week journey into your own fabulous self. There, you will learn to honour the knowledge, experience and wisdom you have gained so far in your time here on this planet.

Where are you listening to other people’s narratives and confusing them for your own? What has your reality taught you that does not match up with the mainstream world? Venus is pushing you to understand what it is you really want from yourself:

Where do your expectations need to be adjusted?
What do you want to do with your brilliance, creativity and intelligence?
What do you want to express about yourself—without apology, justification or hesitation?

This is a time to look at the qualities you’ve cultivated within yourself that keep you grounded in who you are, and what you are able to give to others. Celebrate yourself as best you can in the month to come.

If you do one thing this month:

Grab your journal and write down all the things you love about yourself.

Gemini (May 21 – June 20)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

The world may be full of uncertainties, but no matter how much confusion is out there, you are ready to move forward.

There have been some ups and downs for you this year, with certain plans not quite coming together as you’d hoped. Despite any changes in your personal life or detours in your regular schedule, you are starting to feel clearer and more confident about where you’re at, and where you’re headed.

Finally, you’re catching a break—and the best part is, the change starts from within. You’re starting to see that not every decision has to be endlessly deliberated, or that you don’t need to feel so afraid about taking that leap of faith—the thing that matters most is that you follow through on your intentions, and trust that everything else will fall into place as it needs to.

If you do one thing this month:

Think about something you’ve always wanted to do, but never got around to. Start to plan out how to make it happen before the end of the year.

Cancer (June 21 – July 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Take care of yourself, Cancer. As one of the most empathic signs of the zodiac, you don’t just feel your feelings, but all of the world’s feelings, too. And this spring has been particularly challenging for an energetic sponge like yourself. There’s been so much news to take in, so many unanswered questions and so much anxiety in the world.

May is earmarked as a time for you to redraw your boundaries if you need to. To take the time to get clearer about what you value most in your day to day life, and how you want to have more time for those precious moments moving forward.

Where are you giving more than you’re able to?
What do you need to get back to, or where do you need to get re-focused?

It’s OK to put your own needs at the top of the priority list right now.

If you do one thing this month:

Take a moment to yourself each day to do something that is just for you. It can be simple, like making a cup of tea, eating your favourite snack or taking a break to daydream.

Leo (July 23 – August 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Creativity is your outlet this month, Leo. Pour it into all that you do.

Remember that art does not have to fit an institutionalized definition here. Your creativity can flourish through the meals you make at home. Or through the ways you put together new looks with old pieces that are hiding out in the back of your closet. Your creativity can come through the ways you use your words, or present your ideas in your emails, texts and social media updates.

Everything you do can be your art if you allow for it. What will you make memorable right now? How can you turn even the simplest actions into conversation starters?

If you do one thing this month:

Choose one thing every day to put your creative spin on. Challenge yourself to use your imagination all month long.

Virgo (August 23 – September 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

So far, 2020 has brought unexpected breakthroughs and eye-opening realizations for you. Has it all been comfortable? No—but growth is not always easy.

This month, the fog begins to lift as you see beyond the veil of illusions that kept you mesmerized for far too long. You are starting to see something for what it really is, and you’re ready to undo the fantasies that it inspired. Your understanding of how your work, your purpose and your personal life can look is going through a dramatic shift this year. You are ready to set your sights on new horizons that feel more aligned to what really matters to you. Give yourself permission to live with the authenticity you crave.

If you do one thing this month:

Get a pack of seeds, a pot and some soil. Set an intention that supports your personal growth this month. Plant the seeds as symbols of what you are inviting into your life next.

Libra (September 23 – October 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Go easy on yourself this month, Libra. You might find yourself feeling out of sorts these days, questioning your plans, ideas and even your sense of identity.

What the stars suggest for you in May is to stop putting so much pressure on yourself to get everything “right” every time. Be silly, or spontaneous. Try not to be too serious right now. Hold off on big decisions or deep projects if it’s possible. If it’s not, balance out the big things in life with guilty pleasures.

Get messy, unpredictable, or unconventional. Let yourself break a routine. Or do something half-way. Take the easy route when you usually go the extra mile. See how it feels to loosen up, go with the flow and release any expectations of yourself.

If you do one thing this month:

Do you know the term “colour outside the lines”? Make that your motto this month, Libra.

Scorpio (October 23 – November 21)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

In your own world much, Scorpio? While Gemini season tends to send everyone into a networking frenzy, you are not having that right now.

Instead, you are craving deep, restorative “me” time. You want long, full days to get lost in your work, your thoughts and your passions. Whatever is on your to-do list for the day, you want to give it your full attention.

You don’t have the energy this month for more Skype meetings, phone calls or other disruptions. While it’s not always possible to remove yourself from the world completely, do try to honour that call for quieter days as best you can. Say no to any meetings that you’re not required to be at. Politely decline any invitations to catch up if you’re not feeling it. Put your phone on silent, turn off your notifications and let your mind and body relax into whatever it’s time to focus on first.

If you do one thing this month:

Challenge yourself to a 30-day meditation practice to clear your thoughts, enhance your focus and give yourself the breathing room you need right now.

Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

What do you place your faith in? Jupiter, your ruler, stations retrograde in Capricorn on May 14, signalling an important shift for you.

One lesson that may surface this month is that you can’t control what others think, believe or say. Knowledge is of high value to you, but this month might have you admitting that there are arguments you just can’t win, no matter how badly you want to. Putting energy into disagreements, or trying to convince someone to see it your way, might be preventing you from taking the action that you want to see in the world.

Be the change, Sagittarius, not the soapbox. Jupiter’s retrograde period will help you tone down some of the fire you feel inside so that you can put your ideas into something more constructive, and productive.

If you do one thing this month:

What change do you want to make? Hold yourself accountable to your beliefs by taking action to create the world you want to live in.

Capricorn (December 22 – January 19)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

The events of 2020 have brought some things into sharp focus for you. You’re starting the month off with a much clearer picture of how you want to show up in the world, and what kind of work you really want to be doing.

While you are known as a sign that is capable of making die-hard commitments, it doesn’t mean you have to slog through something that is no longer working for you. You gave it a try, put the time in and now you’re ready to move on.

By mid-month, you can start to let go of what no longer serves you. These changes don’t just relate to work you find unfulfilling; they also start from within, as your whole identity is up for re-evaluation right now. You are ready to say yes to more of what you want, and do way less of what you don’t.

If you do one thing this month:

Edit your schedule. Review all of your commitments, routines and the rules you create for yourself around what you should do and when, and see what needs changing up—or crossing off your list for good.

Aquarius (January 20 – February 18)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

2020 has brought plenty of ebbs and flows for you. One minute you feel like you’re getting ahead with something, and the next you run into an obstacle. May brings you some much-needed stability into your life, and some new perspective to help you make sense of it all.

Saturn, your traditional ruler, stations retrograde in your sign on Monday, May 11. This will help you retrace some of your steps from earlier this year and get a second chance on something that felt like a missed opportunity the first time around.

This month also signals a time when you can fix some cracks in your foundation when it comes to your sense of security in the world. Pay close attention to where you need to put in some extra work when it comes to managing your time, money, and ideas—the universe is here to lend a hand in those departments.

If you do one thing this month:

Review your budget, savings plan and time-management skills to take more control over energy or money leaks.

Pisces (February 19 – March 20)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

People need you this month, Pisces. Your friends and family are turning to you for your wisdom, your patience and your perspective. It’s been a turbulent year and you are pegged as the one to help others find the inspiration and motivation they need right now. You are the artist with a vision, the spiritual warrior with a message, the trusted friend who will deliver the hardest truths in the gentlest tones.

Whatever your modes of expression are—be it poetry, tarot, healing work, art, music—the skies urge you to use your talents as tools to uplift others right now. People want to hear from you, and they want to receive your gifts.

If you do one thing this month:

How can you be of service to your community at this time? Think of something you can create or offer to show your support—whether it’s writing a song, or offering a listening ear to someone in need. It all counts.

Aries (March 21 – April 19)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

State your mission, Aries. Lean into the truths that have surfaced for you this spring and begin to express them as best you can.

Mars, your ruler, is treading through the deep, ethereal waters of Pisces until late June. Pisces is the last sign of the zodiac, the place where eras come to an end, and where you can prepare for your next chapter. These waters are where your personal evolution takes priority.

This month, you are asked to wrap up any beliefs, attitudes or commitments no longer serve you on your next journey. The coming months will bring an initiation period for you where you will begin to walk new paths, and you won’t have time to carry around any old baggage.

If you do one thing this month:

Write down a personal manifesto stating your values, ideals and all that you stand for now.

Early spring is always a powerful opportunity to plant seeds in your life, so now is the time to think about the intentions, goals or routines you’re ready to work towards as the season unfolds.

The sun stays in Aries until mid-April. This fiery energy adds a faster pace to your daily schedule. Time might feel like it’s flying by, and unexpected plans can crop up at any moment. Stay open to spontaneity.

Things calm down a little when the sun moves into Taurus on Sunday, April 19. It can still be an incredible time to move forward with your goals, but Taurus also reminds you to stop and smell the roses along the way. It’s the perfect antidote to the hectic pace that Aries season can create.

Read on for your personal horoscope to help you make the most of April.

Aries (March 21 – April 19)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

It’s your time, Aries. Spring is your season, and inspiration is coming at you from every direction.

Life is lit up for you right now. Your creativity is running high and your charisma is off the charts, making April a key month for you to pitch a new idea at work, launch a fresh concept into the world or introduce yourself to a new group of friends.

It’s a welcome change of pace from the first few months of 2020, which had you in deep hibernation mode at times. People want to see you, and you’re ready to get back to your usual energetic self. Just make sure you don’t spread yourself too thin trying to do everything at once; if you pace yourself, you can really make something meaningful happen in April.

If you do one thing this month:

Connect with your community—make an effort to catch up with an inspiring friend or have coffee with a mentor.

Taurus (April 20 – May 20)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Have you got money on your mind, Taurus? If not, it’s a big theme for you in April, so be ready to turn your focus over to your career, finances and self-worth.

The universe is nudging you to reflect on whether you’re being adequately compensated for all you do. Just be mindful that compensation doesn’t have to come in the form of money; respect, gratitude and recognition are all currency, too, and if someone isn’t paying up or reciprocating your efforts, it’s time to get that straightened out. Be clear about what you deserve. Are you underpaid or underappreciated? Reflect on where you feel you give more than you get, and make a plan to change that.

The Libra Full Moon on Tuesday, April 7, can help you clarify where you might be short-changing yourself or where you’re ready to level up in your personal or professional relationships.

If you do one thing this month:

Ask for that raise, increase your rates or state your needs to ensure they’re met.

Gemini (May 21 – June 20)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

So far, it may feel like 2020 is taking you on a strange and unexpected journey. The hard part is figuring out what it’s all leading to. You’re being shown new possibilities, new ways of thinking and, perhaps most importantly, new ways of seeing yourself.

If you’ve been afraid to take the leap or embrace a new direction that’s been slowly emerging, April brings the boost of courage you need. Don’t be afraid to blaze your own trail right now, even if it means breaking free from what once felt like a sure bet. You’re ready to grow apart from an old identity, and once you let it happen, you’ll start to understand how everything has been leading up to this moment.

If you do one thing this month:

Clear your head and think about your next steps. Check out a drop-in meditation class or a mindfulness workshop if it helps.

Cancer (June 21 – July 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Stop letting everyone else make decisions for you, Cancer. April encourages you to take back your time and do something that’s just for you.

Your wanderlust is at an all-time high these days, and you’re probably feeling more restless than usual. You’re craving adventure and new experiences, and you’re not going to be satisfied if you keep putting everyone else’s plans and priorities ahead of your own. What you need this month is to experience something that is just for you, with no distractions or compromises involved.

Give in to your cravings. Book that vacation, take some time off or break away from whatever is keeping you stuck in a loop. Your soul needs to recharge.

If you do one thing this month:

If you can’t make a great escape right now, dive into a new book or take an online course to help satisfy your need for experiences that you can call your own.

Leo (July 23 – August 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

All eyes are on you this month, Leo, especially on the career front. Speak with clarity, power and purpose, because people are listening—and you have some wise words to offer right now. You might be asked to take that new intern under your wing at work, or an important contact might tag you for a project for which you have that “it” factor they’re looking for.

Mid-month, when the sun slides into Taurus, your ambition gets ramped up and you’re ready to bring even more focus and determination to your career. If you’re vying for a bigger role or ready for more visibility, this is a time to invest the energy and make the right impressions.

If you do one thing this month:

Create a vision board or write a letter that depicts the life you want to be living a year from now.

Virgo (August 23 – September 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

The first half of April has you removing your rose-tinted glasses when it comes to a less-than-ideal situation. Are you waiting for someone—or something—to change? It’s one thing to exercise patience, but you also have to be realistic with yourself. People can spend a long time waiting for a job to get better or for a lacklustre relationship to finally feel right.

This month, the universe is trying to tell you to stop wasting your precious time on things that don’t fuel you. If you’re feeling drained of time, energy or patience, it’s time to move on to bigger, more beautiful things. Don’t be afraid to admit that something isn’t working. Mid-month gives you the courage, confidence and clarity you need to take that step toward whatever is more worthy of your attention.

If you do one thing this month:

Be honest with yourself. Make a list of what’s working for you right now and what isn’t going exactly as planned—yet. Identify one step you can take to improve a challenging situation.

Libra (September 23 – October 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

April has you feeling more determined than ever to live a meaningful life. It’s not uncommon for Librans to want to make a difference in the world. You might find yourself feeling inspired to sign up for a course that will give you the tools you need to improve the lives of others, or you might finally be ready to invest in your art, ideas or business plans.

For Librans who are already living their passions, April sees you ready to step up your game in terms of what you’re putting out there. Start sharing the knowledge you have so that you can inspire others. How? By teaching a workshop, writing an inspiring blog post or showcasing your work to the public. You have so much to share and can really make an impact this spring.

If you do one thing this month:

The Libra full moon on Tuesday, April 7, gives you an opportunity to reflect on your sense of purpose. Ask yourself how you can make more time to do the things that matter most to you.

Scorpio (October 23 – November 21)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

You’re feeling particularly rebellious these days, Scorpio. You might even want to rebel against yourself right now, especially when it comes to things you’re holding on to that no longer feel relevant to who you are today.

April brings you sudden urges to clean out your closet and get rid of any knick-knacks that are collecting dust around your home or workspace. Things you once held dear have lost their appeal, and you’re craving new talismans that better represent the person you are becoming.

This month, the universe encourages you to let go of the parts of the past that you no longer want to hold space for. Clear away anything that represents old stories that you’re ready to break away from.

If you do one thing this month:

Host a clothing swap or yard sale, or enlist some pals to help you haul off some old treasures to your local charity shop.

Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Give yourself permission to think big this month, Sagittarius—you are dreaming up something powerful and important. The stars are encouraging you to look deeply into your heart’s desires. Don’t worry if you feel a bit untethered by the process—you may need to take a step back from your usual life this month if you’re really going to commit to your greater visions.

It’s okay if you need to turn down an invitation or two if it means saving your energy for what you really want to be focusing on these days. Own your intentions and protect your time accordingly. Whatever your sights are set on right now, the stars encourage you to follow through.

If you do one thing this month:

Commit to whatever it is you need to accomplish: Launch that side business, write that book proposal or finish that album.

Capricorn (December 22 – January 19)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

New season, new you? There is change in the air, Capricorn, and you are so ready for it.

The month of April has you re-evaluating where you’ve been and where you’re going next. You’re realizing that you are ready for a new challenge—especially if it will push you toward completely new experiences.

It’s a great time to get out of your comfort zone, especially on the career front. Volunteer to help with a special project at work, or apply for that new position that’s opening up. Pushing yourself towards new opportunities will help you get clear about what you have to offer and which skills and talents you most want to showcase.

If you do one thing this month:

Take a risk. Do something you’ve never done before or something you’ve always been afraid to try.

Aquarius (January 20 – February 18)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

You’re not always one to seek out the spotlight, but this month the stars are making it clear that you have supporters in your corner. You will get some help with getting the word out to your network about the amazing work you do. For Aquarians who are working in creative capacities, put some extra effort into building your fan base this month—it’s a great time to expand your reach.

Whatever you’re focused on, you have a chance to impress someone on the job front or within your industry right now. Don’t be afraid to let your creativity shine, Aquarius. This is a time when your unique perspective needs to be heard and shared.

If you do one thing this month:

Update your online presence to best reflect the work you do and the impressions you want to make.

Pisces (February 19 – March 20)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

You’re making progress, Pisces. It might not always seem like it, but things are finally moving forward for you—and the timing couldn’t be better. So often this year, you’ve questioned your abilities, intentions and dreams. You’ve wondered, “Can I really pull this off?” This month, the stars are aligning to give you the validation you’ve been looking for.

Not everything happens overnight, of course, and sometimes the magic we want to see unfolds in ways that aren’t always immediately obvious. But your efforts are not going unnoticed, and April is a key time for you to keep doing what you’re doing. Trust in the process.

If you do one thing this month:

Don’t give up. Stay focused and consistent with your priorities right now.

Things can get slippery when Mercury retrogrades through a water sign like Pisces. You may feel like your head is foggy and your thoughts are underwater these days. Conversations can get distorted and words can easily be taken out of context. But there is a silver lining to every Mercury retrograde, which is to remind you to take your time and slow down whenever possible. Be aware of where you tend to push yourself too hard, and look at whether you’re forcing something to happen that isn’t quite ready yet.

In this 24/7 world where you’re expected to optimize every moment of every day, retrograde is nature’s reminder that rest, reflection and relaxation are just as important as whatever’s on your to-do list. Use this month to focus on passion projects like art or journaling, or some deep self-care work. Stay flexible and don’t get thrown off if plans fall through—that’s typical of Mercury retrograde.

Things will start to feel a bit clearer once Mercury stations direct on Monday, March 9, but this one will leave a bit of a hangover so don’t expect to be totally out of the weeds until the beginning of April.

The pace of life also picks up when the Sun enters Aries on Thursday, March 19. Aries is the first sign of the zodiac and its season coincides with the spring equinox in the northern hemisphere. This makes March 19 the start of the astrological new year and ushers all of us into a brand new cycle.

Read on to learn what else March has in store for your sign.

Aries (March 21 – April 19)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Hibernation is almost over, Aries. Slowing down is not your forte, but lately you just haven’t been able to hit your stride like you normally do. You have no shortage of people to see and plans to make, and yet you’ve been more inclined to stay close to home and keep your schedule lighter than usual.

Don’t feel guilty about needing more alone time these days. The universe has been trying to remind you that you’re already doing more than enough and you deserve a break. Spring is around the corner and your birthday is coming up soon, which means you’ll be ready to be back in full force before you know it.

Pay close attention to what comes up for you around Tuesday, March 24, when the Aries new moon arrives. This new lunar cycle kicks off an extra-potent time for you to embark on a new path, personally or professionally.

If you do one thing this month:

Get ready to take action on a plan or project you’ve been working on behind the scenes this winter.

Taurus (April 20 – May 20)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Go ahead and indulge. Venus, your ruler, comes home when she enters Taurus on Tuesday, March 4, which is where she’ll be for the rest of the month. What does this mean for you? For starters, it will ramp up the good vibes and bring you a boost of confidence. Venus wants you to feel good in your own skin, and encourages you to find pleasure in all you do.

But some of the things that used to make you happy are in flux at the moment. You might find that you’re not as excited by some of your old vices as you used to be—and that’s OK. There are new sources of joy and excitement waiting for you this month, but you won’t find them if you keep forcing yourself to stick to the same old scene you always go back to.

Don’t settle for something that no longer lights you up, and beware of the temptation to stay in your comfort zone.

If you do one thing this month:

Try something new. Instead of sticking to your usual routine, find a new restaurant or café, explore a different neighbourhood or connect with an acquaintance you’d like to get to know better.

Gemini (May 21 – June 20)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Pay careful attention to any bumps in the road at work this month. And don’t let them scare you. The purpose behind any frustrations that arise is to help you learn new solutions, better boundaries and options within your career path.

March may bring a wake-up call for your true calling. You might realize you’re not working to your full potential, or begin looking for work that feels more fulfilling and aligned with your purpose. This is also a time to get clearer about how you want to be treated on the job, and to learn how to communicate those needs better. Your lessons might come in the disguise of a difficult co-worker or demanding client. Stay open to what you can learn about yourself.

If you do one thing this month:

Get clear about what you really need in order to do your best at work. Come up with a game plan to assert yourself more or to start making changes that will help you reach your potential.

Cancer (June 21 – July 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

The first half of March is a key time for you to network, connect and share your energy with others. Schedule some face time with your BFFs and stay open to invitations, especially if there’s a chance for you to meet new people or try new things.

Your social life is lit up right now, but it’s also prime time for you to make some fresh connections in your career and community. Your enthusiasm is infectious this month and you could find yourself making valuable contacts and building new relationships by being in the right place at the right time.

Once mid-March rolls around, you will want to turn your focus inward. Make time to stay in and get recharged for spring.

If you do one thing this month:

Connect with your community. Explore some volunteer opportunities, or offer to help with an important project at work.

Leo (July 23 – August 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

You have a knack for giving great advice and your ability to empathize and strategize on behalf of others is particularly strong this month.

You might find yourself playing therapist to your friends, as you can become everyone’s favourite confidante right now. You have perceptive insights on what’s up with people around you, especially for those friends who keep making the same mistakes over and over again.

But even though you can see exactly how to fix everyone else’s problems, it doesn’t mean you can force them to change. A lesson for you this month is to remember not to take it personally if a friend doesn’t follow through on your guidance. All you can do is try to help, but the rest is up to them.

If you do one thing this month:

Some people may need your support more than they can admit right now. Show up in the best way you can and trust that you’re appreciated by those around you.

Virgo (August 23 – September 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Take spring cleaning to a new level, Virgo. March’s full moon falls in your sign on Monday, March 9, signalling a time for you to check in with what’s unfolded for you over the last six months. This full moon marks a turning point for you to look at what you’re ready to let go of in order to make more room in your life for something new once spring rolls around.

What might that look like? Sometimes spring cleaning is more than just clearing out your junk drawer and organizing your closet. Look at how you’ve grown or changed in recent months.

Are there any old goals or intentions you’re still holding space for? Release what is no longer relevant to who you are today.

If you do one thing this month:

Clear out any mental and physical clutter that’s taking up space in your heart, head, or home. Set the intention to make space for new energy and experiences just in time for spring.

Libra (September 23 – October 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

March encourages you to practice self-compassion. Watch where you chronically put others first, especially if it’s at the expense of your own happiness. Stop putting off your own pleasure and start making yourself as much of a priority as you do for those around you. It’s not selfish to have time to yourself, or to make time for your own hobbies, interests or self-care.

But beyond looking after yourself, a bigger lesson for you this month is to learn how to let others look after you.How can you let someone help you right now? Let yourself be the one who’s on the receiving end these days, rather than the one who’s always making sure everyone else is taken care of first.

If you do one thing this month:

Let someone help you out. Ask for a favour, or admit that you need a break from something.

Scorpio (October 23 – November 21)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

So far, 2020 might be feeling like it has you competing in a marathon that you don’t remember signing up for. And you might not be sure where the finish line is just yet. But don’t worry: Relief is on the way. The pressure will begin to lift by the end of March and you’ll start to feel like you have some breathing room again.

You’ve been working a lot harder than you might have expected this year, but trust that payoff is on the horizon. There is magic happening behind the scenes for you right now that will eventually help you to step into your power in a much bigger way.

If you do one thing this month:

Try not to take on new projects or fill your schedule up with unnecessary plans. Finish what you’ve started first.

Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Where do you see yourself in the next couple of years, Sagittarius?

March’s astrology encourages you to get clear about your deepest intentions. What’s in your heart that you would like the universe to hold for you? What special wish, dream or plan would you be thrilled to see come to fruition in a year or two?

Imagine your future self. Get creative about who and what you are ready to become. It’s not always easy for fire signs like you to make a commitment that feels far off into the distance. But the point of this exercise isn’t to put yourself in a box. It’s to help you see what you don’t need to be focusing on anymore so that you can start to take different steps to get to where you want to go.

If you do one thing this month:

Create a vision board that represents the dreams you want to make real in the coming years.

Capricorn (December 22 – January 19)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

The stars are giving you a beautiful opportunity to make time to work hard and play hard this month. You can accomplish a lot right now personally and professionally, as long as you’re clear on what’s most worthy of your time and energy.

You have energy to burn these days but you’ll want to make sure you’re using it wisely. You can have a tendency to spend more time than you need to on planning or processing your next move rather than taking action. Allow yourself to gain some momentum.

The full moon on March 9 can bring an opportunity to connect with a mentor or make a new contact who can open your mind to a fresh perspective. If there’s a workshop or course you’ve been meaning to sign up for, now is the time.

If you do one thing this month:

Say yes to new invitations and look for opportunities you can create for yourself.

Aquarius (January 20 – February 18)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

You’re going to be taking some new directions in the coming years, Aquarius, and this month brings you a glimpse of what that can look like. Saturn, your traditional ruler, enters your sign on Saturday, March 21. Saturn has been in Capricorn since 2017 and it’s getting ready to spend the next few years in Aquarius, signalling an important shift for you.

You’ve been overdue for a breakthrough—or just a break—and it feels like it’s been a long time coming since you had one. This month can bring the start of something new for you. Get ready to be re-inspired by your life’s journey and to recommit to your wildest, weirdest ideas. The world is getting ready to hear from you.

If you do one thing this month:

Start tuning into new sources of inspiration. Keep a notebook handy you so you can jot down any ideas that come your way.

Pisces (February 19 – March 20)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Communication can feel like a struggle right now, and you might be called in to help with some sticky situations regarding misunderstandings or hurt feelings. The universe is encouraging you to be a peace-maker and mediator. It’s not always easy for you to remain impartial, because you feel everyone’s stuff so deeply. But the astrology of March encourages you to trust in yourself as a wise old soul who knows exactly what others need to hear.

Your job this month is to help someone feel seen and heard. You have the gift to heal some sensitive situations right now if you allow others to feel empowered by their own abilities to understand the world around them.

If you do one thing this month:

Be a good listener and a gentle presence. Make an effort to uplift others and offer a shoulder to cry on to someone who needs it.

Mercury is the messenger planet, ruling ideas, communication and travel. In our hyper-connected world, it’s arguably the hardest working planet. When Mercury goes retrograde, which happens about three times a year, it’s a sign to slow down.

Mercury is trying to take a break when it’s retrograde and you should, too. Though it’s easier said than done when we’re used to being constantly available through text, email, social media and more.

Mercury will be retrograde in Pisces from February 16 to March 4, when it slips back in Aquarius. Until then, be mindful that Mercury can struggle in Pisces’s watery depths. Have you ever tried to talk underwater? That’s what things can start to feel like mid-month.

Misunderstandings are more likely to come to the surface at this time, so be careful about jumping to conclusions. You might not be hearing someone as clearly as you think, and you might not be thinking as clearly as you would like. Don’t assume everyone is perceiving a situation the same way you are.

Thoughts can get foggy and words can come out muddled, so it’s best to take your time with big decisions and important conversations this month.

Personally, you may feel a greater need to pull away from the crowd to focus on your own plans and goals. Don’t pressure yourself to be everything to everyone this month.

Read on to learn what February has in store for your sign.

Aquarius (January 20–February 18)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Manage your expectations, Aquarius. People around you are over-extended and have a higher tendency towards flakiness and last-minute-bailing.

Don’t take it personally.

A flexible attitude will go a long way in February, and your ability to roll with it will be to your advantage. Spontaneity and surprises are highly likely right now.

There’s opportunity to reconnect with old friends, and even rekindle a connection you thought was lost along the way.

It’s also your birthday season, which means you’re starting a new chapter. Celebrate the accomplishments of the past year and embrace the new beginnings that are about to unfold.

If you do one thing this month:

Stay open to unexpected invitations and last-minute changes to your plans.

Pisces (February 19–March 20)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Not to put the pressure on, Pisces, but there’s a beautiful window of opportunity available for you right now.

If you are nursing an artistic vision, a story you need to tell or a creative path you need to take, the skies are encouraging you to make the necessary time to nurture that vision as best as you can.

This is not the time to saying yes to every invitation you get. It’s not the time to be pulled in too many different directions, rushing here and there. No, it’s important for you now to be looking at how much commitment and discipline you need in order to express yourself fully.

Believe in yourself enough to see this through.

If you do one thing this month:

Join a creative writing group or take an art class to give structure to your creativity.

Aries (March 21–April 19)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Alone time is the name of your game in February. But Netflix binges are not doing it for you right now. You’re craving time to yourself because there is so much you want to be working on.

Get clear with what you need to do or learn to move yourself forward, personally or professionally. Start putting time in your calendar now for any classes you want to take, books you want to read or creative projects you’re ready to tackle.

February is earmarked for you to make time to invest in yourself. Let your intellect be stimulated. You’ve got the drive to make this happen.

If you do one thing this month:

Sign up for that online course you’ve been eyeing, or talk to your boss about professional development opportunities at work.

Taurus (April 20–May 20)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

What are you ready to change within yourself, Taurus?

February encourages you to look at the patterns that keep you in your comfort zone: the habits that you slide into that prevent you from having the kind of love, success or growth you’re looking for.

February is a window of opportunity for you to adopt a new mindset, to look at where you tend to get stuck over and over again. Where do you blur your own boundaries or undermine your own progress? Where do you hold yourself back from doing the things you really want to be doing?

Be gentle with yourself as you work through these questions. You’re feeling a bit more tender than usual right now, and the skies are urging you to focus on taking small steps rather than overwhelming yourself with the pressure of overnight transformation.

If you do one thing this month:

Identify what you want to change this year. Start working on a plan to integrate that goal into your life.

Gemini (May 21–June 20)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Don’t fool yourself into thinking you’re flying under the radar, Gemini. People are paying attention to what you’re saying and doing in February. Be mindful of the impressions you’re making.

Social media can be a friend or foe to you this month, so think twice before firing off that angry email or publicaly shaming someone over a petty disagreement. You could find yourself having to backtrack and apologize for sharing something that could have been sorted out with a little more care.

Professionally, patience is a virtue throughout February. A project or plan you’ve been working on might need more time than you expected. Don’t worry if things aren’t coming together perfectly the first time around: Going the extra mile will pay off.

If you do one thing this month:

Expect the unexpected on the professional front. Brainstorm some possible worst-case scenarios and a back-up plan for each. That way you’ll be prepared for anything.

Cancer (June 21–July 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

What will you give yourself permission to reach for next?

You are tapping into a new layer of your potential in February, one that can have you working towards a cherished dream that didn’t seem possible before.

That inner critic of yours is becoming smaller thanks to some subtle yet powerful signs from the universe. Pay attention to your ideas right now, and watch for inspiration to strike.

You are starting to embrace the potential that is uniquely yours. Don’t feel alone in this: Your inner circle has known for a long time that you’re a powerhouse. Listen to their advice, support and encouragement—especially when those moments of doubt start to creep in.

If you do one thing this month:

Take ownership over a special goal or dream. Imagine what it would be like to accomplish it. Start listing the steps it would take to make it a reality.

Leo (July 23–August 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Think back to what you set into motion for yourself six months ago, Leo. What has transpired for you since your birthday? Where are you at with your plans and intentions at this time in your life?

The full moon on Sunday, February 9 is a potent time for a personal check-in: What’s working for you, and what is it time to let go of? Where do you feel disconnected from certain routines, commitments or relationships?

This month can be a personal turning point for you in terms of how you are managing your own priorities and passions. Be honest with yourself about what’s really lighting you up, and what’s taming your fire. Don’t settle for anything less than stellar.

If you do one thing this month:

Take some time for yourself on February 9 to connect with the full moon. Journal, reflect or meditate on your personal goals and progress.

Virgo (August 23–September 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Don’t be a martyr, Virgo. February is urging you to stop overextending yourself.

You love to help out and you’re so good at it, but isn’t it time someone did something for you? Before you volunteer yourself to organize the next get-together with your crew, or say yes to that special project that no one else wants to take on at work, ask yourself: “What do I really want to do right now?”

Your inner people-pleaser may cringe a little at the thought of letting someone down, but your lesson this month is to let someone else take charge for a while. Don’t feel guilty about admitting that you need to sit this one out.

If you do one thing this month:

Take yourself out on a solo date. Think: An afternoon at an art gallery, a trip to the movies, or a day at the spa.

Libra (September 23–October 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Don’t sit around waiting, Libra. People can’t read your mind and what’s obvious to you might not be obvious to everyone else.

It’s time for you take a risk. Assert yourself. Speak your mind. State your desires.

Dare yourself to make the first move. You’re itching for change, growth and new challenges in 2020, and February is a beautiful time to take a leap of faith.

Let someone know what you want, and what you’re ready for. February is giving you a major boost of confidence.

Whatever you’ve got your sights set on, now is the time to zero-in on it.

If you do one thing this month:

Identify the one thing you want to go for: Tell your crush how you feel. Apply for that new job. Talk to your boss about that promotion you’ve been eyeing.

Scorpio (October 23–November 21)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Don’t force something that isn’t quite ready, Scorpio.

February might give you the sense that you’re not making as much progress as you would like, but the thing is, it’s not time for you to be so focused on productivity or perfection.

This is a time to let go of the need to control every single detail and simply go with the flow. It may sound counter-intuitive, but once you surrender to the process, the blocks you keep running into will start to dissolve.

Try not to sweat it if you’re waiting a little longer for an important email or phone call. The universe is showing that a delay in your plans may turn out to be a blessing in disguise.

If you do one thing this month:

Create a “go with the flow” playlist that you can walk, work out or zone out to when you need to chill.

Sagittarius (November 22–December 21)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Out of all of the signs of the zodiac, you tend to value experiences more than more than money or status. To you, a memory is priceless, and you’re always willing to invest in an adventure.

But finances are something you can’t ignore this year, and February is a great time for you to develop a better relationship with your money.

The stars suggest there are some leaky boundaries when it comes to your cash flow right now—small ways that those extra dollars and cents slip through your fingers unnecessarily. Start to patch up the cracks in your financial foundation.

If you do one thing this month:

Identify some important financial goals for yourself now and in the future. Work out a budget to reach those goals.

Capricorn (December 22–January 19)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Do you have a passion project that’s been sitting on the backburner, Capricorn?

In February, the stars are inviting you to go back through your vault of old ideas and neglected projects. An old creative spark is coming back and it may be time to revive it.

How great would it feel to finally complete an unfinished project? Or to finally start that side-hustle you’ve been talking about for a while? It’s time to go through your old ideas to get a glimpse of your future accomplishments. You might not be sure of whether it will pay off yet, but you won’t know unless you try.

If you do one thing this month:

Set aside some time to get creative this month. Flesh out your ideas, or get back into a routine with an unfinished project.

Real Talk: Can Your Astrological Sign *Actually* Help You Make a Match? https://fashionmagazine.com/wellness/horoscope-compatibility/ Wed, 12 Feb 2020 22:52:13 +0000 https://fashionmagazine.com/?p=431228 Here's how the stars can help you navigate all your work, friendship and romantic relationships

Falling in love can be exciting and wonderful. But it can also be confusing and, sometimes, a complete disaster, which is why so many people look to astrology for help in determining the odds of being a match with someone. But understanding zodiac signs isn’t only useful when it comes to romance—you have relationships with all kinds of people, including colleagues, friends and roommates, and the same wisdom applies.

So if two signs are deemed compatible, then we’re guaranteed harmony, right?

If only relationships could be as easy as following the stars. The truth is a zodiac sign does not determine a person’s entire character, and astrology is not a guaranteed path to perfect pairings. But it can help us understand ourselves—and the people in our lives—a little better.

How to use astrology in your relationships

Astrological signs are grouped according to four elements: fire, earth, air, water. Each element dictates typical preferences, needs and reactions for those signs, and understanding these energies—and how they connect with yours—can inform how you approach your relationships and help you appreciate where others are coming from.

Fire signs: Aries, Leo and Sagittarius

Fire signs need to feel alive. They don’t like to waste time, and they get easily bored with tasks and plans that take away from the things they are most passionate about. They don’t like to do anything halfway, and giving them room to express themselves and take their interests to new levels is key to getting along with them. Because they’re often busy focusing on their own goals, fire signs have little time for drama. Neediness, mixed messages and dishonesty are some of their biggest turnoffs.

In love: Fire signs thrive on freedom and independence. If you’re dating one, respect their need for space—giving them room to breathe and make time for their many passion projects will go a long way in your relationship.

As friends: With broad interests and deep loyalty, fire signs can end up with wide circles of friends they collect over the years. Just don’t expect to see them all the time—they stay busy, and clinginess is not their style.

At work: Even in team settings, fire signs need a lot of leeway to make their own decisions. As colleagues, they can be your fiercest competitors if they see you as a threat to their success.

Best paired with: Air signs, whose open-mindedness and curiosity can fuel a fire sign’s inspiration.

Best signs to learn from: Earth and water signs. Earth energy can teach fire to slow down and think things through. Water can help fire signs express their vulnerability and build trust through intimacy.

Earth signs: Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn

Earth signs thrive on structure, routine and stability. They have comfort zones and are OK with that. They don’t want to be rushed, if they can help it, and when they commit, it’s for the long haul—which means change isn’t always easy for them. Sometimes they avoid it to the point where they end up stuck in a rut. They will deliberate over decisions and like to be methodical in how they move forward, but once they’re ready to take the leap they will follow through.

In love: Earth signs want you to respect their routines, so be willing to work your life into theirs. Big romantic gestures are always appreciated, but simply cooking them a meal at home can go a long way too.

As friends: Dependable and grounded, these are the friends you can count on when everyone else flakes out.

At work: Earth signs do best in structured environments where they know what to expect day in and day out. They are the colleagues who are least likely to rock the boat.

Best paired with: Water signs, who will meet earth’s need for security and dependability but can also teach them to go with the flow sometimes.

Best sign to learn from: Fire, who can push earth out of a comfort zone—but only if earth is willing to let go of old, familiar territory and try something new.

Air signs: Gemini, Libra and Aquarius

Air signs are curious and ideas-driven. As some of the more social signs of the zodiac, they make great conversationalists and rarely run out of things to say. They are quick thinkers and have no shortage of questions, opinions and answers. If you love to have deep, drawn-out conversations that go off in all directions, air signs are your people. But they can also be conflict-averse; working on understanding other people’s feelings can be a lifelong process for them.

In love: Air signs are turned on by ideas. This is a connection that will grow intellectually first, so don’t expect to get into deeply emotional territory right away.

As friends: These are the friends you can count on when you need to see something from a new angle or when you need someone to give an outside opinion you can trust.

At work: These are the communicators of the zodiac—they’re who you want helping with presentations, sales meetings and brainstorming sessions. They just have to be careful not to get caught up in workplace politics.

Best paired with: Fire, who will be able to appreciate air’s many interests.

Best sign to learn from: Water. Air will have to work hard to learn how to connect to water’s emotional depths.

Water signs: Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces

Water signs crave emotional security. These sensitive peeps are easily hurt and are often cautious about who they get close to. Deeply compassionate, water signs are often perceptive about other people’s emotions. Because they can tune into others so easily, their energies often get drained by people around them. True to water’s nature, these signs can be wishy-washy and their moods can change quickly. They can take things too personally sometimes, even when an action wasn’t intended to hurt them at all.

In love: When you’re dating a water sign, be prepared to let them know you’re there for them. They want to know that you’re all in before they risk their heart.

As friends: These are your one-on-one pals, the friends you want to call on when you’re not in the mood for a group hang or a crowded place.

At work: Water signs communicate from the heart. They will tell you how they feel about something before saying what they think about it. Having room for open dialogue and being supported is key to a water sign feeling secure in the workplace.

Best paired with: Earth, which can provide the safety and dependability water craves.

Best sign to learn from: Fire or air. Both of these energies like to build momentum and can help water get out of its comfort zone—as long as they take the time to listen to and validate water’s feelings.

Remember: Relationships take work, and the best ones help you grow

Just because you’re an astrological match doesn’t mean the stars are going to do the work for you—you need to put in some effort too. Even the best-suited couples and friends have their ups and downs. Patience, respect and understanding are all important in any kind of relationship.

And don’t be too quick to dismiss someone based on their sign—you might be stunting your personal growth. It’s not uncommon for people who have incompatible signs to fall madly in love or blossom into life-long friends, and the differences that arise in a relationship can be motivating factors for two people to help each other change and grow.

Your January 2020 Horoscopes Are Here https://fashionmagazine.com/wellness/january-2020-horoscopes/ Mon, 30 Dec 2019 00:55:16 +0000 https://fashionmagazine.com/?p=429706 There's a lunar eclipse on the horizon

The post Your January 2020 Horoscopes Are Here appeared first on FASHION Magazine.

(Illustration: Elham Numan)

So many of us look forward to January as a fresh start. And this year, thanks to some exciting astrological events in early 2020, the New Year has added potency to help you actually break out of that rut or reach new heights in an area of your life you’d like to give more attention.

On January 10 there’s a full moon and lunar eclipse in Cancer that can push you to make some changes to how you care for yourself—especially if you have a tendency to take on too much. This is part of an eclipse cycle that started in 2018 between Cancer and Capricorn.

This eclipse series is teaching all of us that career goals are not the be-all-end-all: The relationship you have with yourself deserves just as much attention as what goes on your resume. Setting intentions to have more time for yourself, or prioritize friendships and family can get you off to a strong start in 2020.

Just two days after that lunar eclipse, Saturn and Pluto form a conjunction in Capricorn on January 12. These two planets only meet up like this every few decades, so it’s something to pay attention to. The last time Saturn and Pluto were conjunct was in 1982 in the sign of Libra. This is kicking off a new cycle for us collectively and individually. When we look back to what was happening in the early ’80s, the first millennials were coming into the world. January’s Saturn-Pluto conjunction mark an important generational turning point—a changing of the guard, if you will, between Gen X and millennials.

This Saturn-Pluto conjunction will also bring a strong focus on industry and economy, thanks to Capricorn’s influence. Corporations may be held more accountable for their actions and impacts on workers, the environment and the economy. It’s a time where we can expect better standards, and stronger integrity—but there may be some growing pains in getting there, such as an economic correction or long-drawn out policy changes.

When we talk about change in astrology, it’s easy to worry whether the change will be good or bad, or somewhere in between. Keep in mind that astrology isn’t so black and white. A necessary change isn’t always easy; a difficult change can end with a positive result. Remember, too, that the changes Saturn and Pluto can create are part of a longer cycle, and so how this story plays out may not be immediately obvious.

And finally, a lot of it depends on what you decide to bring to the table. Your presence, your power and your intentions can make a difference. Here’s what’s in store for your sign in January 2020—and what you can do to make the most of your month.

Aquarius (January 20–February 18)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Close your eyes, Aquarius. Think about one of your biggest, wildest dreams.

Maybe you have always wanted to write a novel. Or make a documentary. Or adopt a dog. Or work overseas.

Whatever your most cherished dream is at this moment in time, imagine that you are taking a step closer to it.

You may have a lot of hopes on your wish list, or maybe just one or two. But whatever you want to focus on this year, the skies are encouraging you to nurture something that you’ve wanted for a long time.

A special dream can become closer to being a reality than you might think. What do you want to make happen in the New Year?

If you do one thing this month: Write down the steps you would have to take to make a dream come true. Is there anything you can do this month to get closer to your goal?

Pisces (February 19–March 20)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Are you tired, Pisces? The skies are suggesting you take a time out to rest, reflect and revitalize your mind, body and spirit.

While everyone else is rushing around with New Year’s resolutions and post-holiday stress, it’s time for you to take a minute for yourself.

Don’t feel guilty about turning down invitations, or turning off your phone altogether to go off the grid for a little while.

For you, New Year’s resolutions might include more time to create, explore your spirituality and to connect to your true desires. That means figuring out how you want to feel rather than what you want to accomplish.

Take your time easing into 2020. Keep your options open, your schedule light and the pressure off.

If you do one thing this month: Clarify how you want to feel. Hone in on which emotions you want to experience most this year, such as more happiness or excitement.

Aries (March 21–April 19)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

January gives you permission to dive deep into your psyche and heal some of your deepest, oldest insecurities. You’re not typically seen as the sensitive sign of the zodiac, but the truth is you wear your heart on your sleeve and that means you’re bound to get hurt now and then. But it’s time to stop letting past experiences hold you back.

Ask yourself: What beliefs no longer serve you? Where are you holding yourself back out of fear of being seen?

January encourages you to think about where you want to take up more space and blow past your limitations. Take time for your inner work at the start of the year, whether that’s journaling, meditating or taking contemplative walks, and you’ll be well-rewarded for the effort as 2020 unfolds.

If you do one thing this month: Identify one characteristic that you would like to develop within yourself this year.

Taurus (April 20–May 20)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

It’s time to re-set your priorities for a more prosperous 2020. The New Year is bringing some big reality checks around what’s important to you, especially when it comes to money.

If you’re dreading the thought of opening your holiday bills once January rolls around, the stars are giving you an opportunity to get your finances straightened out like never before.

Sit down and work through what you really want to have in your life—not just materially, but emotionally and spiritually, too. Does your relationship with money reflect your priorities? Are your spending habits bringing you closer to a major financial goal, or further away from it?

If you do one thing this month: Get real about whether your social life is helping or hindering your bank account. Suggest some new ways to socialize that won’t break your budget. For example: Instead of splurging on dinner and drinks at that new restaurant down the street, why not plan to catch up over tea on a quiet Sunday afternoon?

Gemini (May 21–June 20)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Don’t let indecision, doubt or distraction cause you to put off a major career move this year, Gemini.

Work is front and centre for you once the New Year arrives. You have a feeling about 2020 and want to make the most of it by taking your work to a new level.

Go for it. The skies are primed to help you take a transformative step in your path. But what direction should you take? Here’s a hint: Reach for something that will help you feel challenged. It’s time for you to dig deeper into your talents and show what you’re made of. Stay focused and commit to the path you really want to be on.

If you do one thing this month: Catch up on podcasts, blogs and Ted Talks by people who are doing work you admire. Take notes.

Cancer (June 21–July 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Joy is the theme for you in January, Cancer. The skies just want you to be happy and there’s a big push for you to really define what fulfillment means for you.

The full moon and lunar eclipse in Cancer on the 10th will reveal another important chapter in your story. This one can help you get closer to a special dream that is deeply personal to you.

These days are ones of personal revelations, private breakthroughs and courageous steps. A new confidence is stirring within you and you can finally see that you’re capable of something you never thought you’d be able to pull off.

If you do one thing this month: Take time for yourself on January 10. That will be a powerful day to journal, meditate and listen to your heart.

Leo (July 23–August 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Creative inspiration is running high for you in January. Think: Side hustles, passion projects, new artistic goals or marathon brainstorming sessions.

Whatever is lighting you up, one thing is clear, Leo: It’s more important than ever to validate your own ideas, invest in your visions and show that you are capable of following through on your plans.

A book proposal, freelance pitch or other brilliant idea is waiting to come to life for you in 2020. Get yourself organized and figure out what it will take to get your concepts in front of the right people.

If you do one thing this month: Carve out a whole evening or afternoon, distraction-free, where you map out a passion project for the year. Not feeling inspired yet? Sign up for a creative writing class, vision board workshop or motivational seminar to get started.

Virgo (August 23–September 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

It may sound cliché to focus on your health for a New Year’s resolution, but it’s exactly what the stars are urging you to do, Virgo.

January starts off as a massive reset button for your mental and physical health, giving you an opportunity to create new routines and unravel yourself from any habits that are keeping you from feeling at your peak.

Where do you catch yourself sabotaging your best intentions?

Look at whether your sleep schedule, meal times or fitness plans are helping you feel the way you want—or whether it’s time to make some tweaks.

If you do one thing this month: Prioritize your health the same way you prioritize your work, friends or family. Carve out time in your schedule to plan out some meals for the week ahead. Set a bed time for yourself and stick to it. Decide on a fitness routine and put it in your calendar and protect that time the way you would a date with your BFF.

Libra (September 23–October 22)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Impressions are a major theme for you in 2020, Libra. Like a snake shedding its skin, you are due for a transformation that will help you make a bigger impact with all you do.

You are ready to take on more responsibility this year. You’re getting clearer about how you want to be of service in this world, the difference you want to make and the work you want to align yourself with.

Some of the directions you’re taking in 2020 might require that you admit you’ve grown out of a certain phase. You can’t grow if you’re holding onto old dreams and ideas that no longer suit the person you are today, Libra.

If you do one thing this month: Comb through your online presence. Delete any old posts that no longer reflect the way you want to be seen and heard.

Scorpio (October 23–November 21)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Reconnect to yourself, Scorpio. January calls for radical self-love, indulgence and passionate solo dates.

Be careful about who you let into your inner circle right now. Some people around you may seem fun at first but will end up causing more drama than they’re worth, and you’ll be left drained from the experience.

You’re not out to waste time in 2020. In fact, this year is action-packed for you, with plenty of opportunity to make headway personally and professionally.

Start the year off by getting reacquainted with your deepest desires so that you feel rested and recharged to take on the world as the year unfolds.

If you do one thing this month: Make time for yourself every week. Think: long hot baths, quiet afternoons at a café or binge-reading your favourite fiction series.

Sagittarius (November 22–December 21)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Take a break, Sagittarius: 2019 was a big year of opportunity, activity and personal growth.

Now it’s time for you to sit down and meditate on all that transpired in the last 12 months. Where were you at the start of 2019? What has changed since then?

You’ve been given the lessons, tools and knowledge you need to put an important plan into action— though there will be a learning curve to navigate the path ahead.

Responsibility, discipline and stability are major themes for you in 2020. Get focused, organized and productive. It’s now time to turn an idea into reality and put your wisdom to use.

If you do one thing this month: Make meditation part of your regular routine to keep your mind clear and focused.

Capricorn (December 22 – January 19)

(Illustration: Elham Numan)
(Illustration: Elham Numan)

Are you ready for re-invention, Capricorn?

The past couple years have been priming you for a big change. You’ve been working on yourself personally and professionally, building a foundation that you can stand on for years to come.

You’re not the type to look for overnight success or chase after the next trend; no, you’re here to cultivate something long-term. As January kicks off, you will get a glimpse of where all of your hard work is taking you so far.

But with commitment comes compromise. Be careful not to cling too hard to your past. Now is a time to move into your next chapter.

The only way to grow is to let yourself try something new. Work on your flexibility and stay open to change. Notice where you tend to resist new ways of working, or where you tend to shoot down other people’s suggestions before giving them a try.

If you do one thing this month: Challenge yourself to let someone else lead the way this month. Or say yes to an opportunity that takes you out of your comfort zone. Acknowledge that there’s still more for you to learn.

Can Tuning in to Your Moon Sign Help Avoid Burnout? https://fashionmagazine.com/wellness/moon-astrology/ Wed, 30 Oct 2019 15:24:48 +0000 https://fashionmagazine.com/?p=430694 Here’s a self-care tip you don’t hear every day: Listen to the moon—more specifically, your moon

You probably know your sun sign, but did you know you also have a moon sign? In astrology, the moon symbolizes the inner self: your moods, feelings and emotional security. When you know what your moon sign means, it helps you understand what you need in order to feel your best.

If moon signs are so important, why don’t we talk about them more often? Ever since horoscope columns started to appear in newspapers in the 1930s, mainstream astrology has put an emphasis on sun signs. But the sun is only one part of your horoscope. It represents your outward self: how you shine, what your ambitions are and what you are known for.

Considering that our society puts so much pressure on achievement, it’s not surprising that sun signs have influenced so much of our astrological knowledge. But just as the sun can burn, so too can the chase of status and accomplishment. When you start to tune in to your moon sign, you begin to find the antidote to burnout. You also get another layer of insight into who you are and why you feel the way you do.

If you want to learn how to reconnect with your inner self, trust your feelings and take better care over all, read on to learn what your moon sign says about you. Not sure what your moon sign is? Look it up with this moon sign calculator.

Moon in Aries

You have an independent nature and like to have time do your own thing. Neediness is not your style, and you thrive in relationships that give you room to breathe. Recharge by taking “me time” seriously: Block off time to have regularly scheduled solo dates where you get to choose your own adventure.

Moon in Taurus

Chaos is your enemy; routine is your friend. You thrive with structure and stability. Seek out relationships with people you can rely on. Unpredictable environments are not your strong suit, so build a career that provides you with the structure you seek. Recharge at home over a favourite meal.

Moon in Gemini

You don’t do boredom well, so beware of monotonous situations that leave you feeling drained. You thrive when you’re stimulated, challenged and pushed to grow. Seek out relationships with people who are great conversationalists. Recharge with podcasts, local workshops or good books.

Moon in Cancer

You feel things deeply. Learn how to set appropriate boundaries without feeling guilty about it. Relationships are important to you, and you hate to let people down, but Cancer moons don’t like to be pulled in too many directions at once. You’ll feel better if you take a time-out on a regular basis.

Moon in Leo

Invest in yourself and your ideas. You have a wealth of creative energy. It’s up to you to decide how to channel it, but do put it to use—a fiery moon like yours can get burned out if you don’t have your own thing going on. Recharge with your BFFs: You get into the groove when you’re out with others.

Moon in Virgo

You like to feel useful, helpful and productive. Intention-setting can be a valuable self-care practice to keep you aligned with your higher goals. Just be mindful about being too hard on yourself. Recharge with bullet-journaling or nature walks that can help clear your head.

Moon in Libra

You need face time with those you love. Just be realistic about how many relationships you can manage at once because you hate letting people down. You also have a strong artistic streak that can be nurtured with a little downtime. Choose quality over quantity in your social circle, and recharge by making time for something that really matters to you.

Moon in Scorpio

You’re good at picking up on other people’s energy. One-on-one intimate hangouts are more your jam than crowded places. Superficiality is not your style—whatever you commit to is often long-term because you don’t do anything halfway. You like to save your energy for the things that matter and feel drained by insincerity. Recharge with meditation, journaling or a night in.

Moon in Sagittarius

Freedom is everything to you. You don’t like to be confined to one place or one routine for too long, so be sure to leave time open in your schedule for spontaneity and adventure. Travel and experiences have more meaning for you than material things, and you might value a career with a flexible work schedule rather than a heavily structured environment. Recharge by getting offline and outdoors.

Moon in Capricorn

You need to feel accomplished and connected to your ambitions. Goal-setting can provide a way for you to feel on track and in control of your destiny. Relax with Netflix? Not so much. Your idea of a day off might be tackling a big project or organizing your to-do list instead. Self-care for you means staying on top of things and avoiding procrastination.

Moon in Aquarius

You are here to break the mould, not fit into it. Conformity leads to burnout for you, so seek career paths that encourage new perspectives. Aquarius is the rebel of the zodiac, and you are happiest when you can express your creative, innovative ideas and push the boundaries of convention. Recharge by making time for creative projects.

Moon in Pisces

You are a spiritual soul who feels all the feelings. Your moon sign is highly sensitive—the smallest thing can throw you off. Make your home your sanctuary, avoid dramatic friendships and respect your own emotional limits. Most of all, trust your gut. Recharge with tarot cards, reiki healing or other intuitive practices to get back to yourself at the end of the day.

Why Mercury’s Retrograde Might Not Suck for You https://fashionmagazine.com/wellness/mercury-retrograde-2018/ Wed, 06 Mar 2019 18:11:54 +0000 https://fashionmagazine.com/?p=430364 According to our favourite astrologer, it's actually not *all bad*

It’s that time again when everyone starts blaming every crappy thing that happens to them on Mercury retrograde. Didn’t nail that job interview? That trip you were planning for months fell through? Stubbed your toe? You know what’s up.

Brace yourself, because this phase happens multiple times per year. But here’s a little good news: Retrograde is not all bad, and there are actually a bunch of great things that can happen to you during this planetary phase. We chatted with astrologer Liz Worth to get the deets on the lesser-known benefits of Mercury’s retrograde.

First of all, WTF is retrograde?

“When a planet is retrograde, it gives the illusion that it’s moving backwards from our position here on Earth,” explains Worth. All planets have retrograde periods, but Mercury’s is special because it’s a faster-moving planet, which means it moves into retrograde a lot more frequently. In astrology, each planet influences Earth in some way, and Mercury rules things like communication, thought processes, travel and technology.

At any given time, a planet inhabits a different zodiac sign, and that can affect the kind of energy the planet emits, too. “This Mercury retrograde begins in Sagittarius, a fire sign,” says Worth. “Self-righteousness, blind faith, and uninformed opinions that feel so right—but might be so off-the-mark—can become a theme for the next few weeks.”

Is Mercury retrograde really that bad?

Worth says that a lot of people have long lists of things to avoid during Mercury’s retrograde periods, but she says that just contributes to the idea that astrology is a black or white—a.k.a. all good or all bad—experience. “You might hear that you shouldn’t travel, schedule any appointments, buy a new car or computer, sign any contracts, or launch projects during Mercury retrograde,” she says. Not so: Worth maintains you shouldn’t base all of your decisions around astrology because so many external things can also influence outcomes—including the locations of other planets.

That said, there are a few things you should be aware of. “Because Mercury influences our thoughts and communication, we might find ourselves worrying more than usual,” explains Worth. You could also be more sensitive to negative words, or face more miscommunication. Social plans might fall apart, projects you were working on could change direction, and deadlines might be pushed back.

OK, so what good things can happen during retrograde?

On to the good news. As Worth said before, astrology isn’t a binary experience—so, in other words, that means nice stuff will definitely keep on happening to you during this time. “Mercury retrograde can actually be a tremendously helpful, productive time,” says Worth. “Pay attention to the word ‘retrograde,’ especially the first two letters.” That means it’s a time to revisit, reflect, revise and re-evaluate. Consider cleaning up your social media content, removing some of that off-brand stuff from years ago. Or taking some quiet time to consider whether where you’re at in life truly reflects who you are.

People from your past might also re-emerge during Mercury’s retrograde, and although it may not be someone you particularly want to reconnect with, this encounter may serve to remind you of how much you’ve changed. You might also want to reach out to old friends you’ve lost touch with. “Contrary to what we often hear, people can have amazing journeys during Mercury retrograde—like life-changing trips where they revisit their ancestral roots, or have major breakthroughs about who they are,” says Worth.

Lastly, repeat after us…

“Nothing is ever black and white in astrology,” says Worth. There are so many other factors that influence us all the time—like our free will, our skills and our talents—and all of that doesn’t just go out the window because of the movement of one planet.
