What’s the Queen Gifting Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for Their Wedding?

It's not monogrammed bath towels.

We already know that the soon-to-be-wedded royal couple has requested donations to various charities in lieu of wedding gifts, but of course that’s not going to stop the groom’s grandmother from bestowing a lavish present on the newlyweds.

According to the Mirror, Queen Elizabeth is reportedly gifting the couple a country home, just as she did with Prince William and Kate Middleton after their wedding. Anmer Hall, a home on the grounds of the Queen’s Sandringham House country estate in Norfolk, England, was her gift to the elder grandchild, and she seems to be following suit with another country home for Harry—York Cottage, also on her Norfolk property.

Apparently gifting country homes to newlyweds is a royal tradition, and one that makes sense considering how often these highly-photographed couples need a place to escape. “It’s their sanctuary, it keeps them sane,” royal expert David McClure told News Corp. “William and Kate would do that with Anmer, they’d just disappear.”

Sounds like the perfect gift.
