Very Important PSA: Zoom Has a Beauty Filter Option for Your Next Video Call

This is going to change your work video calls from here on out.

Our new reality of working from home until further notice has seen a rise in the use of digital meeting spaces like Google Hangouts and Zoom in recent days. Teams are now connecting virtually on the reg (us here at FASHION included) and if you’re using this time to give your skin a bit of a break from makeup, it’s unlikely you’ll want to throw some on ahead of a 20 minute call. The flip side, however, is that it’s a fine line between ‘I woke up like this’ and ‘I just woke up’ which is why finding out about the Zoom beauty filter was a revelation.

The filter is officially called the Touch Up My Appearance tool, and is described by the company as “[retouching] your video display with a soft focus” adding that it “can help smooth out the skin tone on your face, to present a more polished looking appearance when you display your video to others.”

To turn it on, all you have to do is go into settings and then select the option under video. Just think, by using this filter instead of makeup and giving our skin a much-deserved break during this period of social distancing, we may all return to work with skin that looks like it has a filter on it IRL. #thedream
